Okay kidding is over. If Ripley is , very possessive about the "trachea", then she may be hiding it. When my dogs have hated something, they would cover it . Like push newspaper over it Or anything else they could cover it with. I think the item was making them physically ill, or feeling nauseous.

Would she think she needs to hide it from your cat? My dogs loved their special "things."
My male would take it everywhere with him - even out to pee. He would not set it down unless he was eating or drinking - then it was right beside him.

Ripley with a bloodhound's super nose would smell it hidden in the couch so she may feel safe putting it there. Does she ever sleep with it in her bed or crate?

Hmm, think in the name of a better answer or science or ??? you should do a video of her and said trachea. Then I could watch her body language if she hides it in the couch again.

I didn't know dogs like trachea's I would imagine it could stink pretty well to humans especially with her saliva on it, to .If so the odor would be overpowering to her. Can't she just play with normal things like road kill raccoons, or tennis balls, Jolly horse balls with handle?

Does she love to be on the couch? Then she is hiding it in a safe place, so she knows it will be there when she comes back.

Hey, I've only had Cockers, Hounds are totally different.
