The Old Folks Home

SEND ME SOME SEEDS
Will do, supposed to do best in cool weather, and some blacktail mountain watermelon seeds also if you want. Bred by the guy that runs Sandhill preservation center, ripens earlier than any and during night temps into the 40s. And gets bigger than sugar baby the only one I've successfully grown once... hopefully these do good though I had terrible germination rate with them only two think I planted too early before the ground temp was warm planted some more and they are just coming up. Same with my winter squash and hulless seed pumpkins only a few of each came up and I've had to replant. First time ever trying them but I should have red noodle yard long bean seeds also they are doing good.
I got more radishes in my CSA this week. I ate 3 of them. They weren't terrible if smothered in ranch and slices hidden in a salad.
I like to clean them up and soak them in salt water in the fridge and just munch down on them but I love radishes.

Here the deer go up to the house. An Aunt of mine had hot wire to protect her roses...by her porch
Deer go in the freezer here :p

Same here, I can hunt all day, not see anything, never see a deer in my garden or around the house all summer, wake up next day and it looks like a herd decided to walk all around the house munch on some shrubs and completely wipe out a frozen bed of kale, then they disappear .

Waiting for some fabric to arrive in the mail for the quilt i was working on and it was supposed to be a rain day so I got my fall quilt started .

I've got 5 quilts started now, gotta get myself under control. 2 are ready to be quilted, and the other 2 are almost done assembly .

I got this .

The Aunt lived in the city of Placerville. No shooting allowed there

Good night sweet dreams everyone:hugs

scg, another gorgeous creation.

Garbanzos, are chick peas. Gandules are pigeon peas. A section of Tampa is called Ybor City. Years ago, it was a very nice sector where mostly Cubans lived. The architecture of almost all the buildings is Spanish-Cuban. They had the cigar factories there, and you could get hand rolled Cuban cigars there. You can still get hand rolled cigars there, but not many places that do it anymore, and most of the cigar factories have closed down. They still have a couple very big, fancy restaurants with Spanish-Cuban cuisine. The dish I made is actually called Garbanzo bean soup, not chick pea soup. Along with other seasonings, it has saffron, which turns the potatoes and broth yellow. Saffron is also used in Paella, or yellow rice too. Arroz con gandules is pigeon peas, and rice, and is a Puerto Rican dish. Of course it has pork, and seasonings too.
