The Old Folks Home

My dad was 100% German/Pennsylvania Dutch. Mom was Irish and Cherokee Indian.

I'm s*****d no matter how you look at it.:gig

DH is half Scottish, half Irish.

We were both redheads.

If we had had kids, they would have been real fire crackers!

I have to say though that for being German, my dad was the most even tempered, easy going person you would ever want to meet. If the Germans had cloned him, there would never have been WWII.

Mom on the other hand was better being your friend than your enemy.

Thankfully, I'm natured more like my Dad. Slow to get mad, quick to get over it, never hold a grudge...well, seldom hold a grudge. Still that Cherokee blood only takes so much bull crap then it's run for cover and brace yourself.

Never had a DNA test, may get that done. My mother was Scottish / Irish, my father full blood Italian. Soooo... I have Italian emotionalism, Scottish stubbornness and an Irish temper. I am fair complected. My hair was red as a child, but darkened to light brown as I aged. I still have red streaks in it. I have green eyes. My brother is olive complected with black hair and brown eyes. Go figure. In my mothers family reunions, he stands out. In my father's family reunions, I stand out. Oh well.

DNA is interesting stuff. Thought the Princess was Polish/Hungarian - turns out that she has a high % of Ashkenazi Jewish and 9 % Nigerian. Didn't know I was in a mixed relationship. 'Italian' - we were lucky enough to visit Italy. Italians range from blue eyed blondes and red heads to swarthy dark eyed and haired and everything in between. One native we met said "We have been raided and raped by everyone from the Vikings to the Arabs."

Yep, we redheads are unique. I once read an article that said that redheads are redheads meaning we act the way we act due to the fact that we are genetically different from the other genomes out there. Brunettes, black haired folks and blondes all carry similar genetics. Redheads have a different genetic make up...

Okay, we're kinda freaks, there I said it, LOL.

Still, some interesting points. Redheads are more sensitive to pain. We are also more prone to skin problems such as cysts and the like. There is something else about medicine but I can't remember what it is, but we are weird there also.

So in defense of being a redhead....we really can't help it guys, we am what we am!

I guess I am lucky tho. I have no desire to do the DNA thing. I know what and who I am and where we came from as a family.

I had the same problem with a memory foam bed. It was super comfortable, but in the winter it took Forever to warm up. Heated mattress pad covers are great, Definitely get one with separate controls.

ETA, I use mine mostly just to heat the bed up before I go to bed and then turn it off, or it gets too warm for me.

Thanks you. I appreciate your help so much. I told Dh we need to get one. He agrees.

We thought we knew 'who' we were too. Little did I know that the 'German' also carried Spanish/Portugese and that the Scottish was high % Scandinavian , and the Princess sure as heck did not know that in addition to Polish/Hungarian she was also Jewish/Nigerian.

Grandson had a DNA evaluation prior to us, and we laughed about his Nigerian DNA and how it had to be a mistake. Apparently not.

I also showed low/inconclusive Native American, but no idea how that may have happened as my parents were first generation from their families born in the USA.
