The Old Folks Home

5+ inches of rain is what we've been getting at least weekly, and sometimes every 3 days, for 4 months now. We went a day without rain on the 1st. Rained lightly on the 2nd., but we've got heavy tropical storms moving in tonight with heavy rainfall until at least Monday. We'll get a minimum of 6 inches of rain from that. Roads are flooding, yards are flooding, ditches are overflowing, the riverbanks are overflowing in some areas, and more rain headed our way. Yay......NOT!

BTW my birthday present came today. I got a custom made traverse rod for the vertical blinds for one of my sliders. It was pretty easy to put up. It's soooooooo nice. Everything slides, and turns so easy.

We put the old panels back in, and stored the new ones that came with it. I have another slider on the same wall, further down in the dining area, and a big picture window on the other wall. Currently all the panels match, and it looks right. Once a month, I'll order another pack of panels, until I get enough to do the other two areas, then I'll change them all out at once, so they all match. It would look tacky if they didn't match.

Thanks penny. My only concern is 1 tree, and even that isn't a big concern. We should be just fine. The generator is all ready, just in case. I do need to go tomorrow, and fill my vehicle with gas. We have plenty of emergency supplies. In Florida, we get hurricanes, so being prepared for a two week, serious emergency, is the minimum. I'll get extra animal feed when I go to fill up the vehicle, in case the roads flood, wash out, or trees fall, rendering them impassible. All the rechargeable batteries are at full charge, and ready to go.

It was kind of fun having no road to the outside world... for 2 weeks? 4??

It was nice... out here no one panicked. They flew in baby formula and the food you get on WIC... but that was about it.

The store shelves got really bare... only the disliked kinds of food left...

But everyone was just "oh well... guess it is just salmon and frozen moose meat" no variety of food... but almost everyone had food.

That was years back when we had a flood that took out every single bridge between us and Anchorage. Crazy.
