Cool Kids is very funny!
Following Last Man Standing with 8 million viewers, Cool Kid's might do good. I've only watched a few episodes of Last Man Standing always being on second shift when it was on, I like it but Cool Kid's had me cracking up a lot more. Reminds me of Golden Girl's, (I've seen every episode of GG's many yrs ago in reruns Lol!)
Couldn't figure out at first what the actors were on till I looked them up, dang they were about on every good show through the yrs.

I took this out of the oven about 30 minutes ago.
MMM! I can almost smell it! I tried making crusty bread today, but I think my yeast is dead. It didn't raise very well. It's going to go in the oven in a few minutes anway, just to see how it turns out.

They are supposed to track the rabbits that the gallery flushes, but the furthest I saw any go was about 50'. Everything else was 'play day in the great outdoors'.

From what I understand, the dachshund that my dad had as a kid actually did his job. He would track down critters into their burrow or hole and then go in after it.

Of course that was 60 or so years back.... probably a more functional breed back then.

Those are all good shows!

Anyone have fun weekend plans?
My weekend is Sun Mon Tue, going to harvest some Hopi pale grey winter squash, one blue Hubbard, it actually put out a second that grew super fast but not ready, and all our taters tomorrow. Just guessing have to pick up a scale, the squash are about the size of basketballs, guessing 10lbs.
Had to pick all our wade's giant indian corn and the six titan sunflowers a little early the other day. Thought birds were getting into them and hung pie pans and aluminum foil all over, (heard that scares them away?) Checked the next day, caught robbing thieving chipmunks on top of the sunflowers... shot one, then decided to just harvest..
Had a few dozen Brunswick cabbage, free seeds from Baker Creek that were buried with weeds a few weeks ago and not doing much, weeded them, they are growing bonkers now and heading up with our cold weather. Same with those Sakurajima giant radishes, already went to seed a while ago, still throwing seed pods but now that it is colder they are putting out much more leaves and even though they have gone to seed early the radishes are growing! !! getting bigger. Not sure if they will be edible. The seed pods taste good, munched on a few of them after reading you can eat them.

Today I trekked up to Santa Fe to work on/in the laundry closet. The side-by-side ordered would fit in the closet fine measurement-wise, but could not get both through the doors. Rather than demolish a doorjamb and have to order custom doors, the decision was made to put a stacking unit in there. The problem then became the built-in shelves. So today I dismantled, patched and painted. There was a thought about coming back up on Monday to paint, but the tomatoes need harvesting and so I plodded on.
It was a good decision to leave town today as the Corrales Harvest Festival is going on and it's a zoo. Activities galore in the old church down the street, and then the main street is totally blocked off for the length of the town and it is usually elbow-to-elbow during the festival. Add into this mix a wine faire, growers' market, and art show and, well, yeah, being in a nice quiet closet seems rather nice.

Sunday is a day of rest. DH and I are going to a Blues Festival for the afternoon out of town and away from Day 2 of the Harvest Festival.

How do the seed pods taste?
Sorta like radishes but without the heat. Pretty tasty, crunchy, and non fibrous. I didn't know they were edible till I googled how to save the seeds and it popped up a bunch of recipes. The seeds are not hard yet, like a crunchy little pod sorta like sugar snap peas with a radish taste.

It was gray and chilly here most of the day. Today was methotrexate day for me so I planned to take it easy. Pretty much managed to do just that. I did muster the energy to run over to the Amish store and buy embroidery floss for my quilt square project. Nothing as gorgeous as SGCs work but I'm having fun with it plus I'm exercising my fingers. The rest of the day was spent puttering around the house. The three surviving juveniles from the coccidia outbreak are ready to go back out to the coop and carry on with being chickens. We will probably move more wood up to the barn. We figured that if the weather forecasters are correct and the winter is as bad as they say it is, having the logs up to the house is better than them laying in the timber.

Heard from our friend's wife. He is still in ICU, not doing well. She keeps telling me that she just doesn't understand...two weeks ago they were going to the gym and now he is in ICU with feeding tubes and O2. Really hits home concerning how fragile life really is and how quickly it can change and makes me want to embrace each day.

Y'all be safe and have a good night!
