The Old Folks Home

DH and I spent the afternoon doing some target shooting until the neighbors and two of their young sons walked down to see us. They told us that they are thinking of moving to upper Wisconsin. They are originally from there then moved to N Dakota then down here. They said that they weren't handling the hot summers very well with their solar power and were missing the snow in the winter. Sigh. Half the snow we experienced in IL per year was one of the big draws to us moving here. Young people, I told them to give themselves 25 more years and the snow would become an enemy that they must conquer and destroy.

Man I hate the thought of breaking in new neighbors. Hopefully it will be down the line a bit. I gave them 6 roosters for freezer camp in the spring. Seems as though one of them got loose and took up residency in the timber for awhile. They would hear him crow and get a glimpse of him but he wily little brat survived. Their rooster turned mean so they butchered him instead and now my boy is king of the flock. I'm happy for him.

It's 78 degrees here today. I'm thinking of putting on some shorts but once the sun starts to go down it will cool off fast. Sept. went by way too fast. But then I think 2018 has been a blur anyway.

I tackled the Wild and Woolly garage, it has really gotten away from us this year and turned into a hoarding risk. Shop vac started making loud crunchy noises and a burnt smell, so that went into the dumpster along with a bunch of trash. Further dumping will have to wait a week until the dumpster is empty. But I got a good start at it. Amazing how much bigger it looks! And I scored a new shop vac online at Home Depot for $30 off.
High of 50 today and the leaves are finally changing. Good football weather.

We are just starting to get some color to the leaves here. Mostly yellow.:( The town we lived near back in IL had a whole block that was lined with red maples. When they turned in the fall the air would be red under them from the reflection. I loved walking down to the PO which was on that corner. Always made me smile.

I got the three youngsters back out and in the coop. Another week and I'll turn them loose. Called it a day after cleaning the feed room. Need to tackle the shop and hobby room. Looked at those two areas, moaned and decided to sight in my rifle. Too nice a day to work more than you have to.
