The Old Folks Home

Growing up with farms all over, always someone needing help getting hay in back when they used square bales there was always a bunch of kids helping. Well us kids either riding on the back of trucks picking bales through the fields, or hay wagons pulled by tractors, sometimes they had kicker balers and we just had to stack in the wagons. Whether truck or wagon they would have pieces of field corn scattered around who knows how old or sanitary, we'd crunch and munch down on them like a snack lol
Didn't get paid anything either, didn't have anything better to do, it was fun especially the kicker balers. Instead of waiting for a bale to land we'd take turns trying to catch it.
Ever had Irish oatmeal? It's just steel cut oats cooked. I just plan on getting a cheap cast iron hand grinder for my Indian corn. I'll probably pick up a bag of whole oats so I can make my own steel cut oats.
My dad used to have wheatena for breakfast a lot when I was a kid, I loved it. Toasted wheat and ground coarse. Haven't had it in many probably 30yrs, think I'll try making some of that myself also.
My kids like grits and corn meal mush, with maple syrup or sugar and milk like oatmeal. I prefer it plain with a couple over easy eggs on top.
Steel cut oats are very good!

I think a natural disaster stands a good chance of punching the reset button for us just as the asteroid did for the dinosaurs. I just read something that said that mankind has actually went through several near extinction events in the past. Whether from pandemic or some other natural disaster, who knows. The odds are sooner or later something will happen.

I'm currently reading an Kindle fiction series about what would happen if the Yellowstone caldera blew it's stack on us. When all is said and done, we have absolutely zero control over this planet that we call home. It controls us quite nicely though.

No I have not.... having trouble with google finding it wants me see what it wants
I listen to am radio a lot . Pretty funny, on the way to work comes in good, on the way home..., I switch to (I'm in upstate NY) Kentucky , and Chicago stations they come in much better lol .
At home, Iheartradio online, free, any station or music preference. I usually listen to the same people but pick Florida for the station just so I can hear better weather reports
When I worked late nights I liked listening to am 900?, Canadian channel, old westerns Gunsmoke , sometimes old radio detective shows, pretty neat how they do them almost as good as TV. Not on Iheartradio wish they were. The commercials are the best crack me up. Original commercials. So and so doctor says such and such cigarettes are the best cause they are smooth and easy on the throut, smoooth and recommended by multiple doctors lol........

I love corn meal in corn bread, spoon bread, corn meal muffins and the coating on tamales (which is mostly just corn meal mush).... but I have never developed I liking for corn meal mush.

We make a bunch of corn bread and spoon bread... no wheat flour. Half corn meal, half corn masa. Yum!
