Mom always said, "Getting old ain't for sissies." I am beginning to understand.

Interesting. Your all talking about aging. Just yesterday I thought about something, I remember thinking... Wow, I think I've accepted this old age thing. It was a strange sense of feeling.

Yesterday I saw a commercial for assisted living on television. The daughters were preparing the transition for 'Mom'. She was an ancient 83. Do you know how close that is for the Princess and me ? I dread the thought of becoming dependent upon others.

Ahem...I'm not cleared to drive it....but my wife is!

My husband is going for the driving test next Tues. First an interview, then the test that everyone takes.. open book. Then another appt. for the driving. I'm pretty sure he won't pass. His Dementia has gotten worse, I'll have to explain that another time. I've just been hopping into the driver's seat before he gets out there. Read that was an easy way for them to accept it. It seems to be working.

It is a scary thought. I'm only 65 and I've already thought about it. Maybe because I've been thinking about it for my husband. Man, I hope I I do have some years left in me. My parents only lived into their early 70's. My husband's.. both in their 80's.

Bless you, it is terribly difficult for the loved ones to cope with. My Aunt died of Alzheimers after 10 years. Dad had dementia and so does Mom. I am scared every time i forget something.

So sorry that you are facing that, Cynthia.

Another good way to deal with it is to give his doctor a 'private' call and ask him to write a prescription for him that says. 'May No Longer Drive'. It works very well as the patient is more likely to obey the doctor without becoming annoyed at the caregiver/family member.

Micro, aren't you about due for a break?! Hugs. I took the keys away from my Aunt and she had a locksmith make more. So i gave the car to my son.
