The Old Folks Home

Brother and I had our usual turkey dinner at slow-fast food place Boston Market. Not pleased. Instead of turkey sliced(what I expect) we were served small sawed off lumps of turkey. It was cold. We got an ice cold dinner roll. Apple Pie slice - I wanted Pecan pie. No dice. The diet coke wasn't bad.

We used to get great dinners at a Buffet place- loved it. It was shut down several years ago after flunking health standards. Maybe so but, we never got sick eating there. All you could eat soft serve(not really Ice cream),loads and loads of side dishes, and desserts plus you could get servings of turkey, ham, beef, chicken too for same price.

Got to find a better place for next year or I'll just sleep all day.

Sorry to be a Thanksgiving Grump. But always thankful though that my small family, brother, sister - nieces and my son have made it through another year. And hopeful all BYCERS are intact.:yesss:

Huh.

I don't like that. Not sure what that was... but take good care of yourself, and make sure you check in with us tomorrow or I will worry. :old

Me... :sick don't like the in laws, and we always eat with them.

Thanks Al... I'm generally in here at least 2-3 or more times a day. Don't always post though, but you can check to see if I've been on. Check in 1st thing after animal chores, then again around lunch, again after dinner, and finally late like now before bed, or if I can't sleep. Gotta be honest... have never had a heart attack or stroke, so don't know what to expect with either, but when stuff like that happens, at my age and in my condition, the thought is there...

Sorry you're stuck in such a crappy situation. I don't envy you. Wish there was more you could do or not do to fix it/make it better.

On a lighter note, I felt cheated, or deprived, having had no dessert. I had a couple of graham cracker crusts, chocolate pudding, and a can of whipped cream in the fridge, so made a chocolate pudding cake. Already had a slice and it was yummy. Then followed that with a plate of dinner leftover/2nds :drool:)

Glad you had a good time, and glad you are thankful (instead of grumpy like me)

Sure hope you find a better place to eat next year... because yeah... that sounds terrible.

I almost feel guilty that we had such a good Thanksgiving. Only drawback is that grandson heads back to California soon, and we probably won't see him for at least 6 months. :hit

Don't feel guilty... I am happy to live vicariously. :D

Well, I had a fantastic day. I watched The Kingsman both 1 & 2. Then I started CSI Cyber, and have a few episodes left. I even got a little nap in. When Dd #1 got home with the grandkids, I was informed that we will do Thanksgiving here next year. Dd #2 called later, and informed me the same thing. Apparently their dad, his sister, her husband, and their grandmother got into a huge argument. The sister left, and things calmed down. The girls wanted to leave, but their grandmother begged them to stay.

As I was finishing up in the kitchen preparing everything for dinner, I suddenly started feeling kinda light headed, and almost like I wanted to sweat. I took 3 low dose aspirin and put my legs up in the recliner. After about 20 minutes, it passed and now I'm back to normal. Broke out the cuff and was 159/85. Upper is higher than normal at ~ 134, lower is a little higher as normal is around 82. Anyway, got everything finished and have a nice full plate here to work on while conversing in font.

Green bean casserole, garlic mashed spuds with skins, turkey of course, gravy, stuffing, candied yams (I do NOT like them baked with marshmallow! :sick) and jellied cranberry sauce. I have a plate with a little of all of that for my meal :drool
Looks nice!

Did you have the vent hood going while cooking? Do you have a gas stove top? Hydrocarbons from cooking on a gas stove can make you feel light headed
