The Old Folks Home

Well it was 'only' 160 miles round trip :lau
Never have driven in Dallas but I'm sure others who have driven through most any big city will claim the country's worst drivers are 'there'. Ever driven in a place where there are 3 "painted" lanes and 4 lanes of vehicles except where there are cross streets with signals? Yeah that is REAL fun.

Thanks Ron, I skated right over that when I read the article. The minute I saw Greenfire Farms I just sighed and thought 'too rich for my blood'.
I see quite a few of GFF's breeds on Craigslist locally at prices a LOT cheaper. Sometimes roosters free. The more people buy and breed them thinking their going to make $$, they get more common and prices go down.

Please pm me that, Cap. I have to buy cards tomorrow for folks we know who are injured or in the hospital. Seems to be the season to fall and batter yourself up. Fa La La La La....

@superchemicalgirl, here are the pics. The one in the lower right corner is the one I am working on now and has turned into the hardest one to do. Also next to the black one, one of my favorites. I started doing this as PT for my fingers to keep them nimble. It seems to have developed a life all it's own. I found these patterns at Colonialpatterns.com and these are the Aunt Martha's iron ons that you embroider. I've always been fascinated with Celtic knots.

Neat! I think i might have some of those iron ons with chickens.

I got my DNA test results back last month from My Heritage. They do not include the
small number of other nationalities that are listed in the list on this map. I know I have a family from Spain and a small percentage of Jewish in me as well.

Well they might as well just circle the whole island there. Not very specific.

Traffic wasn't all that bad really, considering it was after noon/lunch hour on a standard work day. There were "a lot" of cars and trucks when within ~25-30 miles of Dallas proper, but no real slow downs/jams/bumper-to-bumper crawls, even at on/off ramps, where it's generally terrible and extends all the way out to the left most lane. The one thing that I have begun to take much closer (literally) notice of is lane widths...

"The Interstate Highway standards for the U.S. Interstate Highway System use a 12-foot (3.7 m) standard lane width, while narrower lanes are used on lower classification roads. " https://www.google.com/search?q=standard+road+width&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1

"This Act provided a maximum vehicle width of 96 inches (2.44 meters) on the Interstate highway system. Subsequently, the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1976 increased the allowable width for buses to 102 inches (2.6 meters)." https://www.google.com/search?q=standard+vehical+width&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1

So there should be, assuming everyone is driving centered in their lane, ~4' of separation between vehicles when side by side. OK, but when they do road construction, they "narrow" all the lanes down to ~10' (or less it seems), cutting the margin for error in half. :barnie

Though driving doesn't bother me, I have begun to get very "sensitive" to separation between myself and vehicles that I'm passing or are passing me. Many times I feel I'm much closer than even the 2 foot allowance on narrow roads and there has become a "pucker" factor and the need to pay much closer attention at those times.

OK, that being said, time for me to get off my butt and get outside working. Gonna try to get the roof on the goat shed before we have 3 days of cold rain starting tomorrow. Hope y'all have a great day!

I hope that roof goes up quickly LS!

Guess I don't understand the map. Is that saying some massive percentage of your ancestors came from the British Isles? What about where THEY came from?
And isn't "Jewish" a religion, not a genetic link thing?
