The Old Folks Home

@superchemicalgirl the quilts are beautiful as always. Even the ones that you don't like have so much dedication and love put into them that they are beautiful.

As for the nomination, personally i would just tell them that i must respectfully decline and if elected, I will not serve.

@CapricornFarm. That's, a lot of wood to deal with. Glad they didn't fall on anything important.

Rainy Sunday here so no outside projects today unless the sun starts to peep out. Hope y'all have a good one.

Whoa those trees were torn up!

Glad you were safe and even more glad you have some firewood. I burn everything I can get my hands on, even pine. I find pine starts fires very well.

We've got that blustery wind right now, started about 12 hours ago. Hope nothing comes down.

I got 2 more nicu quilts finished today (I had plugged away at the tops and got them done last weekend, and quilted and bound them today). I hit my goal of 10 quilts to have for the nicu, but i think i will do a few more. I still have a plethora of scrap fabric and I found what I think is a super cute pattern for a valentines pillow that is 20x20 which coincidentally is the perfect size for a nicu blanket and only uses 2.5 inch squares. I will work on that one, next, and also try and work on my frog row for my row by row quilt.

next weekend i've got a board meeting. i ended up getting nominated to be on the board of an association and apparently i was chosen, despite never having attended an actual meeting of said association and generally not being a friendly human being towards strangers. ive made a few events, so maybe that was why. i was also elected director of said board for 2021 so i figure i ought to start attending meetings.

that's going to cut into my quilting time, but that's probably good for me to get out of the house and away from my loved ones.

See! You are a natural born leader!

The quilts look great

When we lived in Las Vegas, my husband had to leave the Board meeting early and the HOA Board voted him in as President in abstentia. He was a good sport about it and served, and when his term was done he absented himself from all HOA activities and I took a spot on the Board (and you can be darn sure I was at every meeting and never left early.) There was no hiding they were grooming Yours Truly for top spot, but much to their chagrin we moved out of state. (neener neener)

:plbb

Everyone is busy and finding dedicated, capable people for leadership positions is hard.
I think more people would put themselves out there IF they knew they would have a single term and e done. So many times, once in a position, it is a "lifetime" appointment and that scares people off.

I think I'd sit in on a few meetings before I decided to accept the "appointment". Some boards are dysfunctional and you don't need to be there if that is the case.

So true! I was on the board of the skating club for three 3 year terms until I said "enough". Vice Prez 1 year, Prez the next (because the Prez moved with little warning) and elected the last. Ran the test sessions for 8 years until I said "no more". One year the only vacation days I took from work before Thanksgiving were to run test sessions. Left a LOT of days at the end of the year. I was able to move 10 of them to the next anuary but had to take them then or lose them.

DW was also on the board for 3 terms, started in the 3rd year of my first term. Guess who was the club treasurer. That can be a half time (unpaid of course) job all on its own.

No one is going to step into these positions unless the current person bails.

Can’t you just decline the nomination?

Of course I could. However, it is a cause I believe in and I actually do need to be in good standing to continue the mission and turning it down would probably not be wise. If it's a feces show, I'll just take on from y'alls book and move out of state.

Is this for the Cemetary work?
