The Old Folks Home

Good morning and a joyous Sunday to all!

Saturday was a harvest day in the garden. Fridge is now loaded with cabbages, bok choi, beets, shelling peas and lettuce. Planted my jalapeno pepper bed. Next week I'll put in assorted beans and squashes and -- if the last row bed of peas is done -- ruby queen corn.

Also sold some Marans: 1 roo and 4 pullets. New owner is ecstatic as she has always wanted some. Apparently her husband is a big James Bond fan and is all for emulating his hero's breakfast.

For an early Father's Day I took DH out to dinner and to see Ron White at Route 66 Casino. OMG... Walking inside is that unmistakable casino smell of cigarettes and desperation that we fled from in Las Vegas. Surprised to find that the Indian casinos do not allow alcohol in the gaming areas, but do provide free soda, coffee, tea and water at assorted refreshment stations.

Today is quiet, maybe do some yard work as there's a cool breeze. I do need to build a trellis for DH's four hops plants, which are starting to vine.

Happy Father's Day, guys! (And gals who've stepped into the Dad role.)

Funny. I just stepped into this topic and I'm sitting here eating a bowl of grits with honey for breakfast. Being raised by a southern mamma, grits were a staple in the house. When I was a kid, mom would make a big pot of grits, we'd have them for dinner then the left overs would be turned into fried mush for the next morning's breakfast.

I love them any way they are fixed. Cream of wheat also. Oatmeal I'm a little luke warm on except if you serve it with brown sugar and cinnamon then it's feast time.

Hope everyone is well. I didn't take a MTX shot yesterday so I'm feeling half way human this morning.. I think it's causing me as many side effects as the gout meds were. And yes, I'm still waiting for my call back from the doctors. DH asked me if I was going to call them again and I told him no, why bother. I've called twice, first time the end of April and the second time, the end of May and no response to any call. I think It's time to unleash my red head genes the next time I go in.

In the meantime I'm controlling my symptoms with cherry extract and juice/cherries and diet.
I hope the gout stays away until you can get the meds figured out

It sounds like you are having a great day!

I started a batch of Bulgarian yogurt and will be baking bread and banana bread today. At noon, I have to get the chicken into the smoker too

I had a cake mix, and so many good, ripe peaches. You can imagine the rest.
It is important to get those peaches used up before the go bad!
