The Old Folks Home

Same here from me, Diva. SO sorry to hear that you are going though this worry. Somebody told me once when their brother committed suicide that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I hope she gets the help she needs and doesn't become a statistic.:hugs

Very cool morning here. I woke up to temps in the middle 50s. It definitely feels like early fall. The chicken's water bowl is covered with a fine layer of feathers so molt is in full swing. My EE hen is still laying a pretty blue green egg every other day so she hasn't succumbed yet, but the others are starting to shed feathers.

I have busy days ahead. We got deck paint yesterday so we need to start wire brushing the old paint that failed off the wood so I can get it painted. Then there is the ramp walkway and dirt to move around.

Then there is fall cleanout of the shop, hobby room and barn to face. OH! And the coop needs cleaned. Since I have lifting restriction to deal with I'll probably get done in time for next spring.:idunno But since the Farmers Almanac predicts a late spring next year, that may work out just right for me:gig

Diva, I'm sorry you're going through this. :hugs
Your niece can apply for public assistance, and it does cover mental health. They don't keep suicidal patients very long. They stabilize them, and refer them for follow up with a/their mental healthcare provider.

I'm kinda out of sorts, got news that my niece's daughter(adult) has been hospitalized for either suicidal feelings or attempt. Because her insurance has no mental health coverage they are releasing her soon.:rant That does not make it go "POOF".

That side of the family doesn't communicate with ours. She changed religions when she got married because the MONEY is on his side of the family.Husband's side is 3 generations of alcoholics. The son and daughter started parochial school many years ago, hated it and went instead of public school.

The adult is a college graduate and very bright . She was first hired by a very major magazine. She quit so she could be a dog walker in Central Park instead. She's had quite a succession of jobs- her last employment was at animal hospital. She does love animals BUT, doesn't stay with anything.

My brother told me about her being in the hospital Sunday. It didn't bother him at all.
Geez! It has bothered me so much I can't sleep at night.

Told my sister if she had worked enough and paid into SS, she might be allowed some
disability medical coverage and some monthly payment. Or if not she should apply for public aid- I believe most hospitals accept it. But, she should be in one with a mental ward/section.

I haven't seen her since she was a infant. My family is the poor side . Wonder if the father's side will pay her hospital bills and get her into a good program. Or if they will dump her out. OY VEY.
So sorry.

:(

:hugs

It’s the law in the US that insurance policies cover mental health the same as physical health. I think the current administration instituted some catastrophic coverage (cheap) which are the only policies that wouldn’t cover psychiatric care. But in the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and every other plan in the country, mental health would be covered.

What’s catastrophic if suicidal intent isn’t? :he

I’ve been down two days with a migraine. My headaches are usually not as bad as some people describe, but they last four days.

This one is awful! I’m dosing up with medication, and last night 1:30 am - 6 laid awake fantasizing about going to the Emergency Room. It’s slightly better today, but still torture.

Last migraine was pretty bad, too. In May. I begged for Fioricet and got some. New rules about doing everything besides giving patients painkillers. She suggested I come to the ER instead! It’s an hour away, and there’s a cost effective plan! It would have cost at least hundreds of dollars, compared to a small bottle of pills! I am so far from a drug addict it’s ridiculous!

Anyway. Thanks for listening. I am miserable. Pain and nausea, such fun.
