I want a milking cow but no one in my family would probably even drink it but I wish we could go back to old days

I am in a nice spot in relation to the Bay area. It is far enough away that I can ignore it but close enough to visit if I want to.

@ronott1 I agree with @bruceha2000. Y'all need a hobby farm! Retire, ditch the rat race of southern California. Move to the quieter north end of the state, stake yourself out 20 acres and raise your own food, breathe in fresh air, work hard, go to bed tired and wake up with sore muscles and a smile on your face when you think about all you have accomplished on your property.

Trust me. You want to do it sooner than later. DH and I had 3 years before we started having health problems that reminded us that we should have retired sooner.

@J99 Yeah, age. Are you a senior, soon to be senior or a someday will be a senior? I'd hate to saw you in half and count your rings...no wait, that's a tree that you do that to...:lau

@penny1960, how ya feeling? Did you go to the doctors/urgent care/ER?:hugs
I grew up on 40 acres in Tehama County. We had prune trees and raised our own beef and pigs. Of course we also had chickens.

Moving to the country would be like going home for me

Micro he is a mini Aussie. He is a bi black so yes he does look a lot like a border collie but no tail and a bit stockier build. He is our fourth Aussie. You should get the paints out. It's as therapeutic to paint as it is to sew or any other craft for me. I'm really enjoying it
I tried a mix...Border collie/Ausie Sooo smart! But.. couldn't keep it, he was herding my young mini Schnauzer! Wasn't working out too well for the Schnauzer. That pup could learn something I was teaching him in 2 tries. But, no stopping him from herding/biting that poor little Schnauzer. Not mean, just wanted to herd him. Mom was an Aussie, dad was a Border Collie. Went to a family without another dog. They love him. I have found, that I can only handle one dog now. Was a time I would have my limit, but too much going on now. Our one is certainly spoiled. If you are running, guessing you will have a great companion..they are active!

Kdogg thank you for proving you don't have to be old to post here. You would be surprised at the folks that won't post here. Even though some will be old enough for senior discount next month. Plus the fact that folks they communicate with regularly on other threads are here also. Just mishuganah - that's all.:lau

That’s part of why I joined here, figured I already talk to most of you elsewhere anyway!! I’ve been bad about keeping up lately but I try.

As for farm animals, I currently only have chickens but I’d love to have rabbits and goats eventually. Thinking of getting quail next though. Eventually I’ll probably have everything under the sun. :lau

Really want horses too and ducks or turkeys.

And lots of dogs. Currently have none. Do have a cat though. And 4 goldfish.

I need a farm though.

Do have a large garden this year though at least so a step in the right direction haha

I’m definitely waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy on the other side of that :lau

Not too bad. I'm having a Osteoarthritis flare in my left knee that has me sitting with an ice bag on the bleepin thing. Just told DH that if it didn't settle down FAST I was going to gnaw it off and be done with it. I see my regular doc next Tuesday. If it hasn't settled down by then I'll have him take a look at it.

Otherwise feeling pretty good. I've come to grips with the fact that the Osteoarthritis/spine damage is not going to go away, so I may as well learn to live with it. Still doing my exercises twice a day. I'm determined to stick with it.
That's the way to do it! Good for you.
