The Old Folks Home

It's been staying in the mid to high 80's here. Cools off down to the low 70's at night. My older birds are in molt.

I got my truck back this afternoon. Everything is working fine.

The spare refrigerator quit working last night. If it isn't one thing, it's another. I bought it used, about 7 years ago for $300.00, so it's not really worth fixing. I will get another used one.

Howdy back at cha JD! How ya been?

Same old same old here in North Central
I've been busy...really busy. Getting my birds secured from predators with covered runs and an electric fence on the perimeter. Using a bull shocker unit. Also have dogs now patrol inside the perimeter.

I know! I hate to turn up the thermostat and warm up the whole house when it’s getting toward bedtime anyway. We just move what we’re doing closer to the stove. It has a glass door so it’s beautiful to sit there. I send pic to my daughter. It makes her jealous. (That makes me sound mean! I’m not mean!). The dog just loves it, poor little Chihuahua. He gets so cold. View attachment 1926902
Love that base, looks like bluestone but I bet not. We fired up our outside wood boiler yesterday, was close to 80s for the week + I worked 11 days straight. On vacation this week + been cold and rainy, had our first frost last night. Cat immediately snuggled up sprawled out on a register when I got the boiler going lol.

This one has your name all over it @Alaskan :lau

:lau:gig:lau:gig I think that one must be for me!! Blasted cold... hard to type... I need to get fingerless mitts...

It is now mid 40s as the high, and YEP no heat yet.

Kid #2 said we could just skip it this year... we do have a little fuel oil heater that tries to heat the bedrooms, the wood stove is just for the living areas of the house. :lau

I told the kid if the water pipes in the kitchen bust... that would be bad...

He tried to argue that no wood meant no smoke, ash, etc. in the house... and now that we have new flooring...we can't chop kindling in the livingroom... so we should just freeze.. way easier than the wood stove. :gig :rant

Actually. . not being able to chop wood in the house... or repair snow machines in the livingroom... dang... sure am going to miss that...

But the new floor is NICE!!!

Cats know what’s good!

The hearth is slate - common around here. :)

I went to the county fair parade today and lo and behold a cool front started to blow in!
I bet that was welcome.

The dog’s bed goes right in front and he never gets up!
Have you checked to be sure he is still breathing? ;)

turned on electric heat two days ago
 I don't know about there, maybe you have cheap hydro power. Electric resistance heat hear would clear the bank account pretty fast.

Al, I lost a little food, but not too bad. I mostly use that fridge for keeping bottles of water cold, and overflow when there is too much to go in the main fridge. There were a few packages of meats, boxes of mozzarella sticks, and tv dinners in the freezer part, but again, it's used for overflow from my other freezers. It could have been a lot worse.
