We're lucky here, have cheese that rivals European cheese (and beer and wine) Tilsit style cheese at a farm near us, not a sharp stanky cheddar like I like but dang good

I've got a couple funny stories about that farm lol.
And another that has sharp cheddar, I see all their super aged cheese is unavailable, must be in high demand now.

I had a taste of what they called Rip Van Winkle 20 yr old back prob 15yrs ago.

You guys are so lucky. Our local store, part of a regional chain, doesn't offer any really 'good' cheeses. If you can't pull cellophane off of it and slap it on a slice of bologna, you ain't gonna find it there sort of variety.

I can google Tillamook and it claims it's available at Walmart but when I add the local walmart location, it says it's available but not at Kirksville. Very strange.

I grew up eating cheese thanks to my dad who loved really good cheese.Muenster and Pennsylvania Dutch Cup cheese were pretty much standard fare. Our local Amish General Store recently closed down as the owners moved to Iowa, used to sell bulk Muenster.

Hands down it's my favorite, along with a really mild baby Swiss.:drool Luckily, Cheese is one thing that is permitted on my gout diet so I try to eat one meal a day that is cheese based.

@microchick thanks for the advice about the candy. Today I haven’t had any. :D

And just had scrambled eggs and sautéed spinach for breakfast.

And I went to bed early last night and got up before 8 today. :D

No much before, only about 9 minutes, but still haha

No problem. I used to think what I read and heard about metabolism changing as we aged was a bunch of hog wash. I could eat what I wanted and as much as I wanted and as long as I stayed active, my weight stayed at 117 pounds. Around the age of 35 tho, I began to notice that things I liked to eat before, candy, cookies, etc, basic 'junk food' was causing my weight to creep up. It became a race to see if I could stay active enough to burn up the calories and I'd have to get up, start running and run all day to make that happen. It wasn't worth the effort. Giving up the junk food was far easier.

I love chocolate and do indulge in it occasionally. Believe it or not a gout diet allows you to eat chocolate as long as it is dark or semi sweet variety. But I only do that maybe every couple or three months when I buy a bar of the good stuff and share it with DH.

You are young now, but it's never too early to start being aware of what you eat as far eating healthy is concerned. So much is being written about how bad processed foods are for you. You have made a good start by eating what you grow!

Thank you!! This is very helpful.

I definitely need to be better about it.

The funny thing (or I guess maybe not “funny” per se, a bit ridiculous even haha) is that I’ve been pretty aware for a while, I read labels, I’ve read about all sorts of diets and how bad junk food is, but I just don’t change it. :hide

I want to and I’ve tried numerous times but every time, I never last more than a few days if that on it. :(

Idk why.

I guess I need to have more willpower and/or try harder or something :lau

But I know what you mean about the weight thing too cause I could eat anything in high school and was always skinny as rail despite constantly eating :lau even college I mostly ate what I wanted but suddenly about 4, 5 years ago, my weight started going up, and has been steadily increasing but thankfully I’ve been losing again.

But even a little before that, suddenly I couldn’t eat whatever I wanted anymore ha

And now I still can’t cause now certain foods cause me digestive problems/pain.
