The Old Folks Home

Thanks as for the honey locust, we could deal with 1" thorns. Must be young trees that you are dealing with. Our Locusts with 6-8" diameter trunks or larger have 3+ inch thorns on them. We wear heavy boots when we deal with them. They don't go through the soles, but the thorns will penetrate the sides of the shoes even if they are heavy leather and pierce your skin. The main reason we are trying to eliminate them in our timber.

Nope. He didn't grind them, or anything. Yes, I know that the patina from age can add value to some things, but to him, it's not about the resale value. He's got the keys, and they work just fine. To him, it's not just about preserving them in perfect working order, in almost pristine condition. They're his. If that's what makes him happy, then I won't deny him his little bit of happiness.
:thumbsup

To each his own next door neighbor came over wanted me to see their cat's mouth it is torn quite a bit looks like the skunk we have been smelling took a slice they want to blame it on Bob he is the lead feral we raised they use to fight but had settled the pecking order a month ago they think I should put Bob down :he:confused:

I wouldn’t put him down. They’re probably just mad and don’t like him cause they used to fight or something. Some people are just looking for someone to blame. And besides, even if he did do it, it’s just a slice. Could have been a whole lot worse. Cats fight, hunt, get injured. It’s what they do. If they want you to put your cat down cause theirs got one non life threatening injury then maybe they should keep him inside or wrap him in bubble wrap if they’re that concerned he’s gonna get hurt. What happens when he gets killed by a coyote or hit by a car or something? Are they gonna blame that on Bob too?? Also even if he did slice him, doesn’t mean he’s a vicious dangerous cat or should be put down for that. What the heck? That’s just ridiculous. I wouldn’t worry about it and they can’t force you to put him down especially with no proof. Animal control will probably also think it’s ridiculous if they try to get them involved. If it was me I would probably just tell them to suck it :lau :hide

Plus he is at work before dawn four days a week in the winter!
DW has to leave before dawn, and often before the town plow comes through, 6 days a week. I have been using the thrower on the garden tractor until I got the real tractor last year. 5' bucket and edge tamers move more snow faster. Of course it has to be put somewhere and the blower makes nice clean edges and tosses the snow out of the way so depending on the snow I use either or both. But the real tractor is the "go to" for the pre-dawn "need to get DW cleared out" snow.
:lau:yuckyuck

Al, if I could figure out how to do it I'd ship you a couple of cords of good Missouri oak and hickory to burn.
Don't bother, Al won't put it in the stove until the house gets down to 33° anyway ;)

We had our first snow yesterday - about an inch of wet snow. Can't recall it ever happening around Halloween :idunno. Some years we haven't had first snow till after Xmas.
Then there is us this year, no snow at all which is unusual, I've never seen a year with not even a flake by the end of October in the 40 years I've lived here.

The Amish seem to harvest their wood as they need it year round saying 'it heats you up twice that way'
Wouldn't it burn better if they let it dry first?

Our driveway has trees all along it on both sides, so no need for markers.
As long as the ground outside the driveway boundaries is the same height or higher than the driveway!

Bruce, they mainly harvest standing dead or dead fall but even our standing dead has some moisture in it so idunno. I'd be worried about chimney fires especially when we took possession of our house and hooked up our own stove the pipe had about a half inch of creosote on the walls and almost 2 inches of ash in the horizontal pipe. I guess the previous owner wasn't big on cleaning the chimney.

As for the neighbor, Penny, unless he has proof, don't worry about it. My only problem with neighbors is that we don't live far enough out that we don't have any....:barnie
