The Old Folks Home

Today we're up in Santa Fe, just DH and the two greyhounds. Winter storm (the first of three) has hit and there's 10" of snow outside, so an inside hunkering with a fire in the kiva and it's a Merlot & Magazines kind of day. This could be the trend for the weekend. Dinner tonight is turkey breast (in the Instant Pot), gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, roasted delicata squash, salad and DH made a pecan pie for dessert which we previewed last night. (Hubs can make that again!)

I hope everyone has a cozy and warm Thanksgiving!

Great day here!

Turkey came out great and worked it's magic.....I fell asleep for 45 minutes after lunch, LOL!

Roast turned out perfect! I plugged the slow cooker into a timer to go on at 3AM so the roast would be done by 11-12. I woke up this morning laying in bed and sniffing to see if I could smell roast beef. Couldn't sprang out of bed and raced to the slow cooker. Thank goodness it was cranking away on low just as instructed!

Pumpkin pie turned out perfect.

Only thing not perfect is the weather. Freezing rain and drizzle at the moment. Glad we can stay in and hunker down also...except for having to go out and take care of the chooks....who had their own feast of turkey carcass after I boned out the leftovers.

@Peep_Show 10" is a lot of snow. Take care and stay safe.

My favorite Dog show.... Thank you KDogg

I am done in. Turkey came out awesome. dressing too. Made Mushroom Gravy and brussle sprouts and mashed potatoes.

I couldn't eat any of it aside from a taste now and then to adjust seasonings.

I am doing the half turkey again Some day. In the dutch oven all the stuffing fit in there under the turk... and absobed all the goodness.

It took me from monday to today to do this meal. Not ready for the effort. Made myself sick. nothing that a good nights sleep shouldnt help.

Clean up starts to morrow.
