The Old Folks Home

What are those? We have them here never knew what kind of plant they come from but I always make a dried flower arrangement and put a few of those spiky things in it, also with chinese lanterns growing wild on our tree line, and a few others. Didn't do it this year though.
I always called them teasels but I don't know if that is their actual name.
Perchie I did just about the same with our leftovers. Pulled the meat off, made four meals from that with the leftover potatoes and stuffing and then threw the carcass into the stock pot. We also made turkey pot pies. Delicious!

We ate out at a restaurant and the turkey was absolutely tasteless.. Have to find some other place serving it. On the other hand their sweet potato casserole was great.
Unfortunately thats the price they pay for serving the general public... its a big ordeal cooking for sooo many on thanks giving.

I tried one of those Pre Cooked Turkeys one year followed the package instructions and it was just Ikky.... This years half a turkey was Great and it was small enough to be cooked in a Toaster oven. Saw a video on that.

I have a single Free Range organic turkey in the freezer. It looks to be a small one about fourteen pounds. I am going to give that a try probably for Christmas... and or just wait for a good occasion to cook it. from its appearance in the package its pretty lean and did a lot of running around.

Goiing to need to be cooked low and slow to season and Cook that bird the way it should be cooked. Fresh herbs infused Butter inserted under the skin. Cooked on a rack with some water in the bottom of the pan so the juices dont burn....

Still learning... I have some Zaatar Which is a Seasoning blend from the middle east. It should be perfect for turkey

This is a passion for learning One of my best qualities. But it has to be done by making mistakes and learning from that. I made a lot of mistakes this Thanks giving. and my Turkey came out with alot of flavor but absolutely no moisture. It should have been cooked lower and slower... Less Salt and pepper and more Fresh herbage.

when I get my flock going up at the house I hope to raise up some Muscovies. @Alaskan Raises them They get big... About the size of a small turkey. and Red meat. Cooked like beef...

I couldnt raise goats for meat Nor sheep. I get too attached... So red meat will be off the table for a while.

I bet you are a great cook perchie!
Thank you.... I am still learning but I hope to be... There are a few things I do very well other things not so much. I do taste everything before I start. Even dry herb rubs. I want to know the starting flavor and the flavor after its cooked.

Funny thing though... When I cook I eat less because I taste as I go. That counts as food consumed. Seven ounces ads up quickly.

I don't Bake. Anything. I used to make cookies but That ended years ago. Though I did make a couple of Quiches about fourteen years ago. Eggs cheese spinach and ham. Couldn't do a crust so a waitress I chatted up regularly at the only restaurant in town told me to use Crescent dough for the crust. It made an awesome crust.

I've been getting the double click issue with my mouse for awhile. It got progressively worse. I've read things, and watched a few videos on how to fix it. Last night, I couldn't use it. I decided I needed to attempt fixing it. Dh insisted he was going to fix it. I told him, his hands are too big, too shaky, and I'd do it. Nope, nothing doing. Well, he struggled with it for awhile, then finally got it all back together. Um, now the left mouse button is permanently pressed down, even though I'm not pushing it, and the scroll wheel isn't working at all. We ordered a new one last night, and it will be here Thursday. When he goes back to work tomorrow night, I'll take it apart, and see if I can fix it. I may not be able to, but while I'm in there, I'll get the numbers, and later on I'll order new switches, and put them in.

You know they are not very expensive. Well worth saving the time trying to fix it and buy a new one. Just a suggestion. ;)
