The Old Folks Home

Well maybe what they meant was "international". And one CAN take a ferry from Maine to Nova Scotia, that kinda sorta makes it overseas ;)

I'm guessing DH got a different teller or pushed the one he got if they said no for that reason and got a manager involved. Most banks will, I think, cash checks for people who have accounts with them though maybe you would need to deposit it and then take the money out after it cleared.

DD1 has a TD Bank account here and one in Canada. We deposit money in the US one and she can transfer it to her TD Canada account online.
They refused to even deposit it to my account ! I was really mad!

I am heading off to Costco!

It can be quite and adventure on Saturdays

I try to avoid shopping on the weekends. A trip to Costco means I'm usually parked out in the hinterlands (more of a trek from the parking lot than through the store) and the lines are usually horrendous. Another definite NO is Wal-Mart on the weekends. The human circus becomes an unfettered zoo.
(I realize some folks have no choice but to do their shopping errands on weekends and, thusly, more power and patience to you!)

It was probably the teller... Years ago, my dad's boat was in the ship yard down in the Miami area. It was going to be there for at least 6 months, so they opened a bank account down there too. When my dad's paychecks would come in, they would go deposit the check, than want the bank to route a portion of the check into their account here. The account here was set up for paying bills, and some of it was automatic.

The teller let them know, they could not route the money. ???? Ok, she called another person, they called another. Finally, one of the tellers knew how to do it, and tried showing the others. Next month, same thing. They only had the one teller that could do it. If she was out, or on vacation when they went in, no one there could do it. Want to hear the crazy part? They could use that same bank's ATM outside, and IT could do what was needed. Crazy eh?

International checks can be a bit tricky, especially when a local bank doesn't ever deal with them. Again, most of it relies on a teller, or manager that has had experience in dealing with the situation, or they're lost. Sometimes you have to go higher up the food chain to get to someone that can find out how to go about handling that type transaction. Since it's going to be on a semi-steady basis, you might want to do so. At my parents' bank, when my dad worked, and got paid from overseas accounts, the lady that handled mostly everything for my mom, was Celia. She was the assistant bank manager.

There is no real good time for me here. Google Maps and Waze routes I 80 traffic to I-5 most evenings and those stuck in traffic often head over to Costco for gas and shopping. It gets late into the evening and close to closing time for that to all clear out

I have handicap parking do not always get one BF will drop me at the door find a spot then me and the kart are at loading he brings the car that is at Costco, Wally never allot of open parking close to the door so he drops me funny a spot will open as he tries to park so we are fairly close in the end
