My brother had a diabetic episode at a restaurant during breakfast. I was sitting across from him and noticed he had food on his fork but, never got it to his mouth. I asked him if his blood sugar was low and he said he had checked it before coming over and it was fine.
Maybe then it was but I knew better. I went up to manager and said my brother needs an ambulance, he is diabetic. Medics came fast. Asked him a few questions like where was he, what day, he passed that. When they asked his name he just smiled at them. They checked his blood and had him drink some orange juice and checked again. They decided he needed to go to the ER. My father followed in his car, so he could bring him home if discharged early.
I walked home.
Fast forward - my brother got stabilized and released. He had to drive his car home from the restaurant. When he got home he tore into me - up one side and down the other. If I had called a ???different ambulance service his insurance would have covered it. But the way this worked he would be charged. Just totally nasty to me. I told him I would pay for the ambulance.
I told him while he was at it, it would be nice if he gave ME a list of the many meds he is on so I could have told the medics.(also doctor's names). This was many years ago and he still hasn't given me a list. He refuses to wear those ID bracelets that list what health conditions he has.
What is it with men?????? Our father was the same way.
