The Old Folks Home

ron, I was able to get all my shots at Target but, I have Medicare A & B.
Since I am 60, I do not get Medicare. Health insurance is from work and was Western Health Advantage. UC killed that one in January and we now have Health net Blue and Gold. The Prescription coverage is a bit different but similar.

My little spot of shingles is almost completely healed up. I don't seem to be suffering any ill effects from it.

grand daughter who had mis diagnosed shingles in her throat (took an epidemiologist to make that correct diagnosis) is now deaf in her left ear and still has some neurological after effects. Shingles is not kind.

I, too, need to march to the pharmacy and offer up the upper arm for the shingles shot. Don't know how it wasn't on my previous health schedule as I'm overdue, but new health insurance covers it. (yay. Minor enthusiasm for vaccines.)

My dad had a horrible case of shingles on his head. It bisected his face, much like the Phantom of the Opera mask. A surreal grape color. But the skin shedding was the worst and just so gross...like confetti on his pillow. He pretty much sequestered himself (and self-medicated with lots of gin) and was trotted out for display at Mom's bridge functions at her house. Luckily he didn't go blind and recovered to see sunlight again.

Oh No!

It is good that he recovered

My brother had shingles, I believe twice. He was compromised by having had a quad. bi pass years ago plus type 1 diabetes since college. He really suffered from it but was very stoic. That's my brother. He got his shot at Walmart last year and the pharmacist knowing of all his health concerns put on away for his second in the series.

At Target you also get a $ 5 off cpn. for use in the store after you get a shot. I've blown through every shot the pharmacist can think of. I am still waiting for the "fountain of youth."
I asked about the coronavirus (guess I spelled it wrong.) He said it will probably be 2 years or so before one is available.

BTW had a cousin (years ago) that went deaf after measles invaded his ears. Measles is making a comeback in California and Washington since many forgo shots. My son is one of them. His place of employment offered $ 300. to workers getting a free physical and flu shot.
I told him I would gladly take the shots for him. Oh well....

Measles were in quite a few places last year.
