The Old Folks Home

I got seeds from Burpee's today. Beets, carrots, sugar pumpkins, butternut squash. I've got tomatillo seeds ordered and got some squash and pumpkin seeds in starting containers. Makes me feel better about being grounded to the farm if I can play in the dirt a bit.

My Early Girl tomato seeds are up. Has to be a record. I think I started them 4-5 days ago. DH rigged a grow light over them for me since it's been so danged cloudy here lately. I think they broke soil 36 hours after he switched on the lights.

I did get my terrace started. We need to go out and harvest some red cedar trees to make posts out of. Much cheaper than buying 4X4 green treated and we have an abundance of cedars on the property that need thinned out. We can shape them with our table saw.

I'm trying to keep a good attitude about the State of Emergency thing and threat towards us old folks....but I'm afraid I'm just seeing it at the moment as an extension of my 'self isolation' from the Prolia shot. I was sooooo looking forward to coming out of hibernation in April.

I'm more of a grumpy ol' bear right now than a cheerful spring robin.
I am very disappointed that the spring swap at Gilmanor will likely be cancelled because so many people go. That is my "vacation" going to the big swap in Glen Allen. But, I would rather not get Corona virus.

We had to go out get meds made the most of it went to the grocery store in Centralia I like Fullers bought a ton of fresh produce a few brussle sprout starts .. Then went to HD we where there a week ago shelves full should have bought then 6 count brawny was it ..
At wally got his meds, went for TP found a worker standing with a pallet she brought out
she said she has been brings them as they unload each one gone in 5 did get one generic brand

Going to the park with the Princess to walk - she has to make sure she gets her 10,000 steps in. Wonder how many I take a day ? :lau No breakfast at Cracker Barrel this morning that place is just too wall to wall with people to chance that. Later this afternoon we may chance the steakhouse if it is not too crowded. Just adjusting our schedules a bit.

The annual pilgrimage to the Glass Craft & Bead Expo has been cancelled/postponed by the organizers. A prudent move considering most of the attendees are retired elderly crafters. Ergo, I now can put in my Spring garden, which was going to be foregone this year as the timing just wasn't working with nobody left at home to tend the veggies as DH was going to accompany me this year to Las Vegas.

It's probably too late for peas, but looking forward to beds of carrots, beets, radishes, cabbage, kohlrabi, kale, lettuce and bok choi. Greens are good!

I got my shorts, at a great price. I think that's going to be my next to last outing. People in the neighboring town, and the one just past that, are testing positive for the new virus. They are significantly larger towns that this one. Time for me to stay home. I will probably go get feed on Wed. but then again, I may change my mind, and send Dd #1 instead. I'll decide on Wed.

I went to get a new printer today. Nothing has really hit here yet, so before it does, I wanted to get a few things. Staples was empty, except for a couple employees, and they didn't get too close. We prepaid, so I just had to show them the code, my I.D., and they loaded it in my vehicle. Fast, and easy.

I went to Publix, to get a few grocery store items. I didn't want to brave Wal-Mart, and the masses. I was able to get baby wipes, and plastic cups, as well as the other things I needed. No TP, paper towels, cleaning products, etc. yet, but they are getting deliveries of those things. They just sell out fast. Then I stopped in at Beall's. Gloria Vanderbilt shorts are on sale for $13.00 a pair. I only got one pair last time, but like them so much, I'd like a couple more, and you can't beat the price. They're normally $44.00 a pair. They didn't have the ones I want, so I will check online later, or at another one of their locations in the morning.

After that, I headed to the feed store. I paid, went to the loading dock, and they told me they were out of my chicken feed. I had to go back in, and get my refund. They will have more in on Wed. I've got plenty to hold me until then. I want to keep buying as I normally would, so I don't dip into my reserves yet.

Got home, put up groceries, we ate, then I tackled setting up the new printer. Easy peasy. Now, I'm a bit on the tired side, but not overly so.
It sounds like a nice outing!

Printers are much easier to setup now then they used to be
