missing the good ‘ol days.

I set the eggs. I got several waterers out of storage, and put them out for the chick in the coop. The big ones keep drinking it all. They eat all the food from the little feeder too. I tossed a some chicken feed out in the run for it, and refilled it's feeder. I penned up the entire flock, except mama, caught her, grabbed chick, dunked it's beak, then let them both go. Neither were happy, with me, but I know it will drink from the waterers now.

In the coop, there is 1 baby chick. That's it. BUT I put the smaller, quart sized waterer, and the smaller feeder for it. The big ones have buckets. Of course, when I put the smaller versions out there for the baby, every dang bird out there, has to eat, and drink from them. I don't know if the entire flock is trying to teach it, or if they had to check it out because it's new. Whatever the reason, I put several more out there for it.

This outta work right!? If it works for these flying balls of fur, teeth, and muscle, and million mile an hour hockey pucks, it outta work for one crazy turkey, right!?

I went out tonight to close up and discovered another beat up rooster, this one in the bachelor pen. I do not know what they have against this little guy. He's a sweety and tonight I saw 4 other birds jump on him while he was trying to eat and do a beat down on him. So now my two spare coops are being occupied by beat up roosters. Told DH I'll eventually have a coop with nothing but one eyed ratty combed males in it.

I gotta face the fact that the aggressive boys have got to go. Maybe put up a 'Free Crock Pot Roosters....you dress." sign....nah I'll ask 5$ for the little freaks.
