The Old Folks Home

We've got the smoke from the AZ fires blowing over here and getting stuck in the ABQ valley because of the mountains, the view of which is now obscured. Beautiful dark red sunrises, but the eyes get itchy if you stay out for too long. Just a gray haze all over. Ugh. No yard work today.

Temps are ramping up to 100 by Tuesday.
It will be similar here-- 101 to 102 Monday to Friday

I am beside myself with worry. The grandbaby threw the nerf dart/bullet, and chased the duckling, as usual. The duckling managed to swallow it. My vet referred me to a place that has an avian vet. They want $150.00 to see the duck, and will need at lease 1 X-ray at $200.00, to evaluate, before they even start any type of treatment, or surgery. Starting price on surgery is $1,500.00. The hard end had been pulled off, so it's only the soft stuff. It went down longways, like a spaghetti noodle. I've been praying the duckling will break up, with the grit, and/or it will be able to pass it safely, and live. I had no idea it could swallow something that long. I've been mentally kicking myself. I will never again take that kind of a chance.

Check with one of the Duck forum folks. He may be able to pass the piece without surgery
