We did wear fashion clothes Ma made ours.. I was in college with a job before I bought clothes from a store..
I was very proud I could but yes they where levi's and by then I new I could wear tennis shoes..
Keds where good bought at Sears not real expensive till 15 years later all the kids found them.

When I was almost ready to graduate from elementary school, a store opened up , can't remember the name but 2 pairs of shoes for $ 5. They weren't great shoes but they lasted longer than we expected. We thought we were rich. I got a pair of black ones with a thick heel maybe 2 inches high. Wow for a itty bitty like me I thought I had finally come up in the world. My boyfriend also very short had a fit that the shoes made me taller than him. I didn't care. I thought it made me look very sophisticated - yah right, shoes made more out of paper than any kind of leather.

My parents splurged and we all got 2 pairs each. Never had so many shoes.

Current day I have a lot of shoes maybe because I don't toss them out. The icky ones are kept for icky, yard work. The decent ones are for everyday. And a couple with low heel and dressy I keep just in case I get to go somewhere special. I bet they don't even fit me anymore. Actually I used have dressy dresses just in case I went anywhere fancy. But didn't wear them either. Don't care for crowds or parties. Just fantasies I guess.

Now I am a mature, sophisticated woman , I wear what I want, when I want to wear it, and don't care what anyone thinks. I'm enjoying my clothes much more now.

Even the Sears catalog changed hugely what people thought they needed.

Especially in middle of nowhere subsistence places that WERE happy.... then the Sears catalog showed up and they saw all of this "stuff"!!

Alaskan when is your procedure?? Mine is July 10. Somebody told me when you have to eat or drink something awful, to smell something(food I guess) while doing it so you think you are swallowing something good. Maybe being blindfolded helps. Can't I just eat a big carton of ice cream instead

Another of the good things to come out of the lockdown here is a huge relaxation in dress codes for work - so many people here are saying they're not going back to work trousers/ pants after 3 months in elasticated waistbands

Good morning, Old Folks. 'Kids and Spouses' - sometimes you just get lucky. I did. Nature/nurture - I think both matter, but what will be will be. My kids are responsible, productive members of society. So far my grandkids appear to be headed in the right direction. Same is true of my oldest sister and her four sons. My middle sister - that's a totally different story and always has been.

@KDOGG331 I enjoyed reading your post. Interesting to see things from a younger set of eyes.

I remember reading historical data. Back in the 1800s and into the early 1900s actors and actresses were considered to be well I hate to say it this way but scum of the earth. Even now, Prince Edward told Prince Harry when he announced he was going to marry Megan Markel 'one does not marry actresses. We date them'

Now people hang on every word they say and if this one or that one tells them to stand on their heads and let somebody put hot coals on their feet because they think it's a good idea, by golly they go out and do it.

It's a strange world we live in.

Clothes for me are comfortable jeans and t-shirts. I especially like hooded Ts in the winter. I've found that if I keep my neck warm, all of me is warm. Summer wear is shorts and tanks or shorts and Ts. I do keep some nice clothes for dress up which is rare.

I don't like crowds or parties either,@drumstick diva.
