The Old Folks Home

Morning old folks!

I love the video, @Beer can. Chipmunks are cute until they try to take over your yard.

The thing about my 'jungle' is that the sugar pumpkins and squash plants are over three feet tall there. There isn't any room for weeds to even TRY to make a stand. The good news is that there are sugar pumpkins as big as volley balls in there.

I am getting enough veggies for table use but not a lot to freeze for later....except for turnips and those things are coming out of my ears. I pulled the last of the beets yesterday and put more turnips in the freezer. The beets just didn't make. I still have green beans, onions and corn in the main garden and the squash there are giving me a few summer squash to use with shish kabobs so I guess I should count my blessings considering the weird weather we have been having.

As for the jungle squash near the chicken run.

Never underestimate the power of chicken poop as fertilizer.

The weeds in my veg garden are winning.

My guess is through an opening of some sort, like a gate or a piece of panel that can be pulled open far enough for passage ;)
Good try, but wrong. They are going to have a raised walkway from the house, through the fence and into the field.

It has been so hot here I couldn't grow radish roots, just big plants. But I have cukes, ate one yesterday and string beans.

Ran out of room in the garden when you were planting?

??
If the walkway goes THROUGH the fence, what keeps them from going out when you don't want them to?

No, @bruceha2000, it's potatoes in your ears, not turnips although I saw in a HyVee grocery store add that they want 1.49 EACH for turnips. Since I have two quarts diced and frozen in the freezer that makes me feel pretty good. I need to get more pulled and processed. Some of the bigger ones are getting woody.

@CapricornFarm, that is what my beets did this year. All tops, marbles for beet roots. Oh well, there is always next year.

I baked hamburger buns and Amish sweet white bread today. I'm on carb overload at the moment.

Because the walkway leads to the inside of the goat house, and will have a door on both ends.
