The Old Folks Home

Uh, huh. I was wondering why google couldn't find it.

However, google did find this:

https://www.orlandosentinel.com/cor...0200714-va2fuxgcsbfc5dsuba5gcni2u4-story.html

- which seems to say that those small labs that the thing that @pertnear09 linked to claims were reporting 100% positive tests were only reporting the positives, and were giving incomplete data (not telling how many total tests were done, how many were repeat tests, etc). That could definitely skew the percentages (if only slightly, given the relatively small number of tests those particular labs were doing), but that's human error, not faulty materials.

There are new positives any where large groups met as long as folks have have a brain we are all alright

Amen, @penny1960. Cram the conspiracy theories, ignore the political downplay, and apply the same disease prevention protocol to yourself that you would to your flocks/herds. It's just good animal husbandry applied to human beings. Positive cases be damned - 136,000 deaths going up daily can't be discounted. I've NEVER known of anyone dying of the flu, but know of 7 who have died of Covid 19.

Bunny, I read about the small labs too. Prior to that, at least one of the local news channels said the Department of Health suggested the numbers were skewed due to contaminated tests. Of course, the opening blurb made it sound like it was a sure thing, but it as it turns out, it wasn't. It was just one of the things they were investigating, as to why the numbers were so skewed. They finally updated it to show that in the course of the investigation, many of the labs were only reporting positive cases, which is what was skewing the numbers.

It's interesting to note, that while the local Tampa media was quick to jump on the "contaminated tests" bandwagon, local media has been silent about the independent labs skewing the numbers. It's Orlando's news that reported the truth about how the numbers are being skewed. Funny how that works, eh?

Sour, we do that. Dd #1, and I have shoes that never enter the house. When we come home, they are immediately sprayed with Oxine solution. Either we strip in the garage, and put a towel around us, tossing our clothes into an empty washer, and go straight into the bathroom to shower, OR we head straight to the bathroom. I have large plastic bags in the bathrooms. Clothes, towels, etc. are put into them, and never hit the floor, or touch anything. Showers are head to toe, which means hair is washed too. When we get out of the shower, any articles of clothing, and towels in the plastic bags are immediately carried out, put in the washer. When the last person is showered, and all potentially contaminated clothes, and towels are in the washer, we run it.

I didn't mention masks, and gloves, since we all have zip lock bags in our vehicles. When we leave a store, masks and gloves are tossed into the zip lock bags. The bags containing the contaminated masks, and gloves, are tossed into the outside garbage can.

When the numbers of cases are low, we allow the kids to go with us sometimes. They too, know the drill. When the numbers of cases are high, the kids stay home.

Even with all these precautions, Dh still got infected at work. Yes, they wear masks, and gloves at all times there, but it still didn't stop him from getting it. With him, he didn't know he had it the first couple days. It was on the third day that he felt bad enough he knew something was wrong, and went to the doctor. By then, he had contaminated the rest of us. Yes, I routinely round up our cell phones, tablets, etc., and wipe them with soapy dishwater. I also wipe down keyboards, computer mice, door handles, remote controls, and light switches. Bed linens are changed weekly, but more often when anyone is sick, especially pillow cases. I do this in hopes of preventing re-contamination.

They say if you feel as though you are over reacting you are probably doing things just right.

You have to remember that given your particular situation, even wearing clothes into the house holds the potential of dragging in germs, along with your purse. We spray down with Lysol spray when we come home from town or the doctor. My purse is sprayed with Lysol.

It's virtually impossible to prevent a degree of contamination no matter how hard you try. DH could of had the virus on his skin and if somebody touched his skin or hair, well, it's spread.

Morning old folk! We were awakened at 2AM by blinding flashes of lightening and deafening thunder. We couldn't even count a second between lightening and thunder so it was on top of us. No winds thankfully but when we got up this morning it was to 4 inches of rain on the ground. The only ones having fun are the cattle dogs who are happily splashing around in their full lagoon. We got a brief reprieve in the rain but I think it's going to start up again.

micro, I hope you got through the storm ok. When you surveyed this morning, I hope there was no damage, and everything survived.
We are all fine, Clue, thank you for the well wishes. I covered the brooder pens/coops with tarps and plastic last night and stapled and lashed everything down. Luckily there was no high wind, just buckets of rain, thunder and lightening.

We walked down the road to the bridge to check the creek and it was running deep and wild from all the rain. No signs of any nearby lightening strikes but we won't know if there were any on the property until we walk the timber and frankly, it's too soggy wet for that to happen.

We need rain really badly. Very dry here. The deer ate our nectarines and pears. I saw one today in broad daylight! The dogs never noticed it in the new garden area. :he

I was sitting out on the screened porch, drinking coffee, and heard some very strange noises. All the little cockerels are learning to crow. It gave me a chuckle.
I sit in my bedroom and hear one of the 2 Y/O hens crowing :D

Wait a minute? Guys, I think we were just called old!
Given there are a number of people who are grandparents in their 40's and 50's, the newest rocking chair sitters might be YOUNGER than we are!

I named the run away goat Wind, which is how she runs. But I figure it will be Windy...
Better get a clothespin for your nose ;)
