The Old Folks Home

too true. Used to drive me nuts. And many of them were pointless, sent by people too lazy to look something up, or to show they were 'working', or to promote something. And they wonder why productivity is not going up... :th

email is so much of a time waster for sure!

I love ceiling fans but my sinuses hate them. I will plug up like somebody's pounded corks up my nostrils if I sleep under one while it is running. Not so bad in other rooms but I do notice a difference.

We have window air conditioners here. One handles the whole down stairs placed centrally in the living room. More than keeping the cool they keep the humidity down.

@ronott1 do you get super big berries from you triple crowns? We got some that were as big as my thumb.

We also had trouble with fruit flies that we were constantly battling. I'm almost glad that the freeze took them.

Some of the berries are that big. There are some smaller ones too

And they are so delicious!

I was thinking about them while taking care of the chickens. When we would go out to pick, they would line up at the fence and we would lob bad berries into the run. They would scramble to claim the prize and then rush back to the fence.

We also had trouble with yellow legged wasps. I got stung twice and DH got stung once while picking. Sting #2 was why I had to start carrying an epi pen. Doctor told me that reactions to wasp stings only get worse with each sting.

Plus the wasps here in MO are just plain mean yahoos. They will sting you even if you don't come near them. They will swoop down and make sure you leave the area FAST!

Oh man, stings are never fun! :hugs

Nope, not at all. The first one nailed me on the little finger of my right hand while picking. Didn't see it. It was hanging under leaves and I brushed it while reaching for berries. My little finger looked like a Hormel sausage breakfast link and turned black. Two days later the skin started to peal. It was really nasty. About a month later another one got me on my thumb while I was in the barn. It had a nest that wasn't there the day before sort of thing. Same reaction only worse. Swollen past my wrist. When I showed the pics to my doc, he shook his head and told me the reactions were not good and wrote me out a RX for epi pen.

A year later one stung me while picking apples. So far I haven't had to use the epi pen. Just down benedryl and hope for the best.

Yeah, if I get stung or bitten I take a Benadryl asap. I got stung by a whole hive of yellow jackets, as a kid, it was bad.
