The kids' laptops came in yesterday. They're really nice. I HATE having to set up new computers. Today, I'll plug in a mouse, to finish going through all the settings. I hate using the touchpad. I'll get a couple for them, as they prefer using a mouse too.

@drumstickdiva, I do believe that medicare will pay for non surgical pre cancer treatment, tho. Ask your dermatologist if you are a candidate for freezing, blue light treatment or Effudex. All three are non surgical treatments for pre cancerous Keratosises.

@getaclue, I have severe allergies also and take medicine for them. Post nasal drip is a constant companion for me. I know the difference between a 'bronchitis/flu/pneumonia cough and an allergy cough in a person. Plus there are many times that I've had a coughing spell and told people, 'not contagious, allergic'. Plus I was a nurse long enough to be able to differentiate between a cough from a sick person and one who is having an allergy attack.

I should have been wearing a mask when I was in the store where I encountered the sick woman 3 years ago. I probably wouldn't have gotten sick on Christmas Eve and stayed sick through New Years. I was on a chemotherapy drug at the time and knew that my immune system was compromised but didn't have a mask with me at the time and was planning a quick in and out at the store, not expecting somebody with a raging case of the flu to be there at the same time. My bad.

Wearing a mask or not wearing a mask is a matter of personal choice. Personally, I will wear a mask in my car or out of my car when I leave the property. You cannot make a sick person or a well person wear one if they don't want to. All you can do as an individual is do your best to protect yourself, and that is what I'm going to do. Nobody knows what germs are in the air around you. Nobody knows if you are sitting in a store parking lot with the windows rolled down who is going to walk by you coughing a lung out. Bacteria and viruses travel.

Both my husband and I had H1N1. Caught it from one of our patients who transmitted it sitting across from us at a table. All she did was breathe on my husband. I caught it from him.We were both sick for over two weeks and almost went into the hospital. We are both doing our best not to become a statistic with Covid and if that means wearing a mask in our vehicle so be it. We are both high risk and know people are who have caught the virus due to not wearing a mask in public. There is no social event important enough to us to take the chance of getting sick.

So y'all take care out there no matter how you decide to deal with Covid 19. Me? I'm going to continue doing what I am doing to stay healthy.

Hmmmmm. An interesting topic came up in light of the former threat of a possible hurricane, now downgraded to possible tropical storm. In Florida, we open the shelters when we're pretty certain we're going to be hit with a hurricane. They get filled up. They were discussing how to deal with all the high volume of people, in a shelter situation, and protecting them from Covid too. I had to chuckle. You simply can't protect everyone, from everything. It's more of a pick, and choose which you'd rather face, in this type situation.

The reason I had to chuckle is that, when I got cancer, then chemo, I not only had to deal with the impact of the cancer itself, but chemo opens the doors on a multitude of things to die from as well. It's like a buffet of things to die from. If one doesn't get you, sooner or later, another one will. As if that's not enough, add in the daily preventative medication(s), and that increases the odds on some of the doors the chemo opened, and adds a few more things to the buffet. It's easy to get fearful, or paranoid in this type situation, OR go the opposite end of the spectrum, and go into denial. Neither extreme is beneficial to living one's life. Living, not just existing, during the time I have, is my focus point. It's about planting the roses, and stopping to smell the roses occasionally too, while being cautious, but not overly concerned about the thorns, so they don't prevent me from enjoying the roses.

micro, I agree with you. If I had not already had Covid twice, and didn't know how I would do with it, I too would be taking all possible precautions. I don't blame anyone that does, when they're high risk, regardless of age. On the other hand, I got it the first time, before anything was really known about it, and there was no test for it at the time. It was really rough. The second time, we were taking precautions, but Dh got it anyway, and shared it with us. This was confirmed with testing. He got it from a co-worker, and yes they use masks, and gloves there, but quite a few came down with it, in spite of all the precautions. The second time, was 5 months after the first time, and it was pretty quick, and easy. Nothing like the first time. This suggests to me, that even after 5 months, there are enough residual antibodies to lessen the severity quite a bit.

Hello OF.

I believe dh and I are over covid! Thank GOD! We are both pretty weak but feeling better.
Dh's coworker that gave him covid is now his boss. UGH
But dh said he is going to tell him to go to his own office and let this other guy load
trucks for him. Since his boss's wife is in such a high risk job. And we don't want to get
covid again.

I talked to my dd and she thinks I should postpone my surgery till I get stronger. She's
worried at me being so weak. I am to. But I am also worried about putting it off.
Since I have been afraid it was taking so long that I might not make it.

We have also had some rain and a bit cooler here. It's nice to sit on the porch and enjoy the cool fresh air.

Hey Chicka and Perris got two of three coops cleaned .. Planted a few seeds salad type before the osteo arthritis got too bad had to take a break

Because, @bruceha2000. What if somebody comes up to you while you are sitting in your car with the window rolled down or walks by you and coughs hard and long and that person has Covid? Remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean somebody really isn't following you!

Seriously. I was 30 feet from somebody coughing in the Salvation Army thrift store and got sick. I'd rather not take any chances with rolled down windows and or people NOT wearing masks coming too close to me.

Well said! We've fought for our health and life for so long-why quit now? Taking care of our health becomes as much a part of our daily lives as putting on a pair of shoes!
