Do you have snow forecast?
Not in the next 6 days (according to Mr. NOAA).

Cold here too... the lake down in town is frozen over... saw people out skating on it today.
Wow, that's serious cold. I hope no one finds a thin spot. My alpacas have started drinking from the bucket in the barn .... pond froze over. But I sure wouldn't skate on it, I suspect it is very thin at this point.

Wow. That second shingles shot wasn't any easier.
I'm sorry to hear that! My first one hurt like heck, I think mostly because I had them use my left arm as usual but that is the one I sleep on. I hurt bad for 3-4 days. Second one was not a problem though I did have them use my right arm. I don't recall feeling too wiped out.

Me? Already had shingles....on my butt of all places. Hurt like blue bloody blazes.
Mine was a bit left of yours, running down the outside of my thigh into the quad then down to my ankle. Every few minutes someone twisted a dull chef's knife in my quad (or so it seemed). OUCH doesn't even come close to starting to describe that pain. You've seen this chart?

You can get shingles again?
You sure can! It is the same Chicken Pox virus that has been hiding in your spine since you had CP as a kid. I don't know why or how it decides to become active again but when it does it presents as Shingles. Those who never had CP don't need a shingles shot because they can't get shingles - no virus hiding in their spine to sneak up and attack. They CAN get CP though and I believe it is a LOT more dangerous to adults than children. If they live through that they can then get shingles.

People that have had shingles should get the vaccine then.

Yep and also if they ever had Chicken Pox. Trust me (and @microchick) on this - You DO NOT want shingles!
A co worker said that her 80 something mother had shingles when she was dying. It sounded horrible!

I made sure to get the vaccine!

The thing is, to my knowledge I never had CP so it surprised the heck out of me when I was diagnosed with shingles. The first symptom I noticed was the day DH and I had to do a day trip. Half way into the trip I couldn't sit comfortably in the car seat. I told my husband that it felt like a spring was going bad in the seat. Next day I had the rash and could hardly sit down. Went to the docs after work thinking I had an infected cyst on my bum. His nurse took one look and said, honey, you have the shingles. Next day I called the health department to see if it was safe for me to work and when I told them that to my knowledge I had never had chicken pox. They told me that you can have silent chicken pox where you will have flu like symptoms but no major rash. Maybe one or two bumps that may look like skeeter bites or pimples.

A few years earlier my dad had the mother of all shingles outbreaks. He had blisters on him the size of saucers. The only thing I can think is that I had silent CP from being exposed to his shingles.

Its possible. Of course at our advanced ages I suspect you could have been infected as a kid, there was no CP vaccine WAY back then. you might have had the most minimal case and neither you nor your parents knew it.

I THINK to get CP from someone with shingles you need to be in contact with the "puss" from the blisters.
