The Old Folks Home

We ended up with the predicted 18".
That is too much! Not sure how much we got with all the blowing but this morning there were a few inches new on the parking area with that hard wind blown crust on top. There was a thin sheet of ice on the side windows of the cars, the north side. DW said she had freezing mist all the way to work which is weird given it is only 22°F.

I made the mistake of not taking a shovel down to the barn, can't shovel and carry the water jug at the same time. Getting to the gate was OK but the drifts between the barns were easily 2.5' deep. The wind funnels through there year round. I shoveled my way back out with the shovel I leave down there to clear in front of the door. Back at the house I donned the snowshoes to go out to the solar panels. It isn't snowing so they will generate some power even on a cloudy day ... as long as they aren't covered with snow/ice.

Dh's mom is in the hospital. She reacted to the covid shot. He's sort of sitting on standby, in case he needs to go up there.
:( Was it the "standard" allergy reaction? I hope she recovers quickly.

I heard on the news today that 100 year old WWII vet in England Captain Tom Moore, died of Covid yesterday. He had raised $40M for front line health workers battling the Covid pandemic last year by walking around his yard. His original goal was $1,000. He was knighted on his 100th BDay.

yes; ironically he never got the shot because he already had and was being treated for pneumonia when it became available. There was a national clap for him tonight.
