The Old Folks Home

CS, fingers crossed, and hoping you get great results on you dexa.
I've had osteoporosis for years now. I don't do 'prescription' drugs for it, but keep my Vit D, Calcium and Magnesium levels up and keep on with the exercise (e.i., mowing, working in the garden, coops, etc.) I've fallen off the ladder, and with the ladder several times in the last year.. got back up and kept on going.. Bones thin as you age, Foxamax and all those other drugs just make them more brittle. Speaking of porous bones, the horse breed called Paso Fino have the most porous bones of any breed, yet their bones are stronger in comparison with other breeds. So, porous is not necessarily bad.

Have you been checked for a parathyroid tumor(not thyroid-- different glands)?

We nuked my thyroid so have to take a pill to replace that can cause issues with ones liver.. Has not with mine so far :frow
The VA endocrinologist said at some point they would have to nuke mine. I'd rather nuke his beans instead. Levothyroxin is causing the hashimotos which is quiet at the moment. I wish they would tell people to get on nascent iodine to fix thyroid problems before giving them some fake crap that has side effects. Gonna see another endocrinologist this year and see how open he is to natural ways of doing things.

Nopes, hadn't even heard about that. I'll have to do some research.

Edit: looked that one up and I don't have high calcium levels, mine are within the normal range. I get my calcium from cheese and other foods. My Free T3, and T4 levels are normal, it's the TSH that's gone astray. Hence the levothyroxin.

The easiest way to tell is to look at blood calcium levels. If over 10.3, you likely have a tumor. This is a very under diagnosed illness
CA 8.8 mg/dL Normal range is 8.4-10.2 so I'm doing great there. TSH was 5.31 while free T4 was .97 Only the TSH was high, still. At least it's not 56 now.. ha ha ha

That is good for the calcium level.

The other numbers are thyroid numbers not parathyroid numbers.

If calcium is too high and is caused by the tumor(other cause is a very bad cancer) than calcium is mined from the bones. One symptom is osteoporosis. My DW had a tumor and had reached osteopenia before the tumor was finally removed...after 15 years!

Okay, got a silly video coming up. How many chickens fit in a bucket? Graystoke my Beilefelder was definitely doing his duty trying to find a suitable place for his new bride to lay her eggs. She was pacing the fence and worried, jumping up and down into the little hen house where she could fulfill her duty, but was unsure about everything. She had started laying in Mara's dog food container (12 x 12 x 12) when they were together in the same hoop coop. Mara left to be with Prince, so her 'nesting box' went with her. The EE's who had previously been in the coop just laid their eggs in the hay, so Lady already knew where to lay hers when the time came. Poor Margaret just didn't know where, and every time she thought she found a spot, Lady would come peck her on the head and chase her off.. Golly, it's two stories high, you would think there was enough room for the both of them. I'll post the vid when it's done uploading to YT.
