The Old Folks Home

Good morning, OF. "Chickens to bake, and chickens to fry"
:drool:drool Not traditional breakfast fare but I'm on my way over!

Morning Sour and good morning all. The sun is out this morning here which means it will probably be pouring rain at some point in the day today even though they say no more rain for a week.

Independence Day weekend. Everyone have a great and safe holiday!

What a wonderful post. Thank you so much Lovesfarms.

Last night I got a call from Hannibal and the clinic that is associated with the hospital there that employs the doctor I saw asking me if I felt that my concerns had been addressed with the doctor I saw. NO was my emphatic answer. Then Would you recommend the doctor you saw to your friends? An ABSOLUTELY NOT! to that question. I opted out of other questions at that point. I think they got the message.

More than one way to skin a cat.

@Hayden Goseek. I LOVE that last line. What a marvelous response. What is making me chuckle is that this babe thought she was talking to non medical people. Surprise. I told my husband that I admired his self control. I kept mine until I couldn't any more and then raised my voice and hammered her. When I did that she backed off, muttered about MRI's and X-Rays and you can step out of the room then...and fled. I knew at that point that I wasn't going to get anywhere with her as far as answers and advice was concerned and had nothing to lose. DH said that he would have said something sooner than I did but she had a heavy Pakistani accent and was a low/fast talker. And he has bad hearing. He said he didn't hear half of what she said but heard enough. I told him he was lucky.
I had such a deep feeling of empathy for you when I read your post. I am glad you are able to open up and share on here and find support. Intervals of month long waits between each visit is a long time.. doubts and discouragement try to squeeze into our thoughts so we need those friends!
I know... I'm experiencing a similar problem right now and I believe I've skinned that chicken down to the bones by now! I've waited 2 months for an appointment with a new gastroenterologist that specializes in IBD on July 15.
When your illness doesn't exactly follow the patterns and rules laid out in the Drs text books, Drs sometimes need to 'think outside of the box' (quoting my Dr), but they are not all capable of doing so.
Hence the reason we search for those Drs who graduated at the top of their class. (Look for a Dr who has published research papers on your illness -it shows he has knowledge and puts forth extra effort)
I respect any Dr who can admit that you have a complex case and his knowledge in this particular instance is limited and he is willing to refer you to his colleague who specializes in it.
It doesn't mean he's not a good Dr, he's just doing what he promised to do, give you the best care possible!

I never would have thought of looking for papers published. Thank you for the idea.

Have a safe and happy 4th!

When my DW went to UC Davis Med Center for her broken wrist, she was bumped up to a full Professor for her surgery. He had published papers and did research on the best way to approach the surgery.

We were going to the fireworks display at the nearby stadium. It's been raining steady since last night. It was to being at 9:00. At 8:30 it was still sprinkling. We decided not to go. At 8:50 it stopped raining for the first time since last night. No regrets about our decision. We're not hearing too many fireworks from the neighbors either. I guess we're not the only ones that decided to forego the festivities.

The little dove died. I'm not sure if it was injured internally, OR if I was hugely mistaken about it's age, and didn't provide for it as well as I would have, had I known it was so much younger. According to the things I read, I don't think I was too far off regarding it's age, but this is the first Dove I've ever tried to deal with, so it's possible. I did make "crop milk" and feed it, which is a first for me. It began going downhill yesterday, so it could just as easily have sustained internal injuries that were not readily visible.
