The Old Folks Home

Maybe we'll be lucky and some advanced technology will fall in our lap by a visiting alien
More than likely it would annihilate us when it lands.

Let's suck some of that up and use it.
Soon as we have "lightning catchers" covering the entire planet ;) Those strikes aren't exactly landing at predictable times and locations.

Hi guys. Been channeling @CapricornFarm the past two days, tearing out my old pop door and putting in a new door on hinges that will allow me to open it and toss litter directly outside the coop rather than having to shovel it into buckets and hand carry it outside to the tractor.

Now I can pile it outside the coop, open one of the kennel panels and DH can come into the tractor and use the bucket to move the crap to the pasture where it will be spread as fertilizer.

I have to admit that it was fun ripping into old wood and replacing it with new construct. Not too crazy about working with metal but there was a lot of rodent damage. I should have taken pictures but it's really pretty impressive the amount of effort a rodent will put into chewing through 2X4s. I told my husband to imagine instead of using doors just think about what we would have to do to chew through a wall to get from room to room.

Kinda puts things into perspective. His reply? None of us would have any teeth left.

The Princess calls me a pessimist
"A pessimist is someone who feels bad when they feel good, because they're afraid they'll feel worse when they feel better."

I'm with you Sour. I consider myself a realist, not a pessimist. If things go unexpectedly well, gee, that's great! If they go south, at least you were prepared.

Use our birds to harness the lightening
That would make one super huge chicken barbecue!

and DH can come into the tractor and use the bucket to move the crap to the pasture where it will be spread as fertilizer.
I was hoping to get the tractor bucket into the barn alley to shorten the "carry distance" but have enough fencing in the way that I can't turn the corner.
I keep my generator tested once a month, pray I never need it but there if
That is the best plan! Waiting to test it until the power is out is a BAD plan.
