And what about kid 4??? No mechanical skills?

I thought teaching the youngest would mean I would have help for the longest.

Kid 4 and 5 have zero mechanical interest... but sheesh... kid 3 is almost 18.

Kid 3 is the best worker of the bunch. We will miss him something fierce!

Kid 5 is the only one of my 5 with a normal brain so I also think he will be able to learn and retain the knowledge better than kid 4. But yes, I am trying to get both kid 4 and 5 to learn.

how many of you still do your own pm's on you car/truck ? i changed my air filter today still looks brand new, but I did find the starting of a rodent nest in the filter box under the hood, shoulda took a picture, or check the filter more often

It is probably the 4 years. Sun and heat and whatever other environmental factors take a toll on tires even when they aren't rolling. I had to replace a tire on my garden tractor due to sidewall cracking. Sure bet there aren't 49K miles, probably hardly 49 miles (if that) on them! AND the GT lives in the barn so the only time the tires are out in the sun is when I'm mowing or blowing.


You could have worn boots and had free food and spent time with a nice lady! Think man, THINK!!!

I do wear boots, and I did have breakfast with her, do it once a month, or when her daughter and her BF are gone

There's always something good in everything.. If we choose to see it. The flood the other week brought lots of additional work. But since then, the chickens have been feasting on grubs, worms and crickets like I haven't seen all summer.

On another subject, if we keep having extra hot summers, will it deteriorate our vehicles faster? Our tire picked up a nail and rather then get a flat on the way home, we stopped at our usual garage. They said said all 4 tires have such bad dry rot we shouldn't be driving but they don't have time to change them. The garage half a mile away said the same thing. I wondered if this heat is hard on the tires.

Winter is harder than summer on a car especially in places with a lot of snow-- the salt used on roads wears them out!

We have problems with nails and such on the roads here too. It usually happens when recycling is going up the freeway and stuff falls off of them.

You might be seeing more of that in your areal if a lot of cars were damaged in the recent storms. They will be shredded and pieces will fall off of the truck. If houses are being knocked down then nails for removing the the waste from that can get onto the roads.

So the codes enforcement officer will talk with the attorney at the town meeting tonight. He is checking but doesn't think a permit was acquired to build the fence. I told him the neighbor said you don't need permits unless neighbors grumble, he built a large portion into his garage and I doubt he got a permit for that either. The officer said 'if he plays dirty, so can I'

I've always done everything including all mechanical work. Easier now before I had to buy a book of make model now I just look it up on YouTube.
I've had layer pellets packed into air filter boxes before, chipmunks.

DH said time to put some hardware cloth over that filter box air intake.

Been there done that. He puts it over all of our cars intakes. Missouri does have a healthy population of mice.
