The Old Folks Home

I wouldn't go just by what an ER suggests! I just went through similar things at the first part of the year. I was in the ER a couple of times. My PC got smart, had me tested. I had C- Diff. It's aweful! Antibiotics helped. Still suffering. It takes a long time for the bowel to settle down after something like this...months. Anytime you have something going on with the bowel, your diet needs to change. Sorry to say here micro..but coffee is not on the list for colitis! 😳. Go to your PC. See what he suggests. Your results from the ER will be there for the Dr. to see. Now, don't you go thinking I don't want to go to the Dr. to have him telling me what I can and can't eat and drink. 😉 You don't want to through that crap again. Pun almost intended.
Cynthia, I am running up the white flag. I told the doctor today that I had always told my doctor that I'd get a colonoscopy when he could catch me and drag me in bodily. I just grinned and said. Think he caught me.

Yeah I drank two swallows of coffee when I got home read that on another post and dumpted it down the sink. So proud of me.

No I do not want to go through this again. I've been reading different diets. None of them sound realistic in all honesty. One says don't eat this the other says, oh, you can eat that, don't eat THIS.

I know I don't handle fiber at all so it is out. But is decaf or herbal tea allowed?

The thing is, I'm sure I don't have c-diff, I've smelled c-diff, it smells like rotten dog food. That is how we always told if a resident returning from the hospital had the nasty little bugger. My aids would come up to me and say, lady back from the hospital? Gimme a specimen cup. Always came back positive.
I told my DH tonight that I was just waiting for the results from the colonoscopy and then consider lighting on my first rheumy like a duck on a june bug.

But no way no how no chance no deal do I intend to go through this again. One thing I've learned is that there is a 67% chance of women over the age of 60 having what I have if they take ultracet!

Oh no! Please no! You also have irritable bowel, right? All I can say is I feel for you! Did they give you steroids to get it under control. That pain has been my companion since a teenager. When you say you feel like passing out from pain... You aren't fibbing! Take care of your self and I hope you get treatment without having to wait for a colonoscopy.
I know not everyone with colitis is the same, but for me coffee sends me into spasms- including decaffeinated and can produce bleeding. Hope you can still drink it! Take care! Prayers for your healing and to ease your pain.
Yeah..,.they need to develop a whole new pain scale for it.

Thank you sweet lady. Prayers always appreciated.

@CapricornFarm I could say the same thing about you. What in the name of great aunt Sadie is going on with you? You are worse than I am and that is going some. Don't you have enough going on? Now feel better! That's an order my dear lady! :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs
I sure wish i could feel better. Pretty positive it's a virus, because this is how they affect me. Tired of neck and spine pain. At least it's not Covid.

Okay, I hate to tell everyone this but I got the news in the ER.....I'm pregnant.

BWA HAHAHHAHHAHAHAHH..Yeah I'm bad. And no I'm not pregnant, thank GOD that delivery service went out of business in 2009.

Yesterday I had a horrible siege of bowel pain/cramps. 15 on the pain scale. When DH found me I was lying on the bathroom floor, vomiting onto paper towels. Sweating like a linebacker at the Rose Bowl. Barely able to respond to him, unable to get up because I was too dizzy. He wanted to call an ambulance. I said no, I knew what was coming next and sure enough within 15 minutes, the cramping died down and I was able to get up and worship the porcelain god. That lasted for about an hour....then I started passing blood. Yeah lots of blood. It eased off, I pushed fluids and ate light all day, Belt better when I went to bed then woke up at 3 this morning and it was worse than ever. My pulse was fast and thready, I hurt. I gave up at 4 and woke my wonderful husband up and said those two letters everyone likes to hear in the early hours of the morning. ER.

Off we went. Got there. Person across the hall has covid. I tighten my mask up and stare at the ceiling. They do a CT scan of my stomach, Lab work and IVs. News came back. Raging Colitis. Nothing else seen except surprise, you have three cysts on your kidneys. Okay, anything to be worried about? No. my white count was up though figuring in with the colitis. So he sent me home with a new prescription and said consider follow up in 6 months for another ct and oh, get a colonoscopy when this settles down.

I grumbled and promised I would. Even took the name of the GI guy he recommended. See, I'm serious guys.

So I'm home, a bit worse for the wear. As for the bleeding? Wear it out and let it go he told me. 🤬 🤬:rant

I'm going to have to go back and catch up but I read a few posts. You guys are the best. @csolis,@ lovesfarms, @penny1960, special hugs to you all. I'm going to finish my cup of coffee, take a pill and do a face plant on the sofa.
Glad your back and feeling ok, :hugs
