This is what happens when your chicken decides the nest boxes are no good anymore

I have a bantam that does that, Bruce. 5 nesting boxes and she will make a nest in a corner and plop down on it with one of the bantam roosters guarding her. Once she lays her tiny egg, they kick bedding over it so I have to play search the corners every night for eggs.

I have polish in my old turkey coop. The nest box is pretty high up off the ground, and most of them are frizzles. I have not found a single egg in the nest box. I am going to try building them a ladder.

In all the years, and with my assorted flocks, I can honestly say I’d never had that happen. I had one Buff Orpington that wanted to lay in one corner of the coop, so I put a basket there and she was happy as could be.

And here we am wishing I still had eggs to collect...anywhere. Miss having chickens. Sometimes.

Morning Old Folks. I have said the day I can't get out to scrape the tables. I will not have birds.
Now I am spoiled want those fresh eggs.

We have friends coming over this Saturday, and I want to give away 2 dozen eggs. So no eggs for me until I have that many, plus the 8 DH and I will eat next weekend. And of course my best layer is broody and in the broody breaker, so no eggs from her.

No fried rice for lunch.

I have cut the egg cartons in half before when I didn’t have enough eggs to share a whole dozen. Make the fried rice Sally! You know you want to!!

Morning all!

Went to the doctor yesterday. Told him how good I was feeling and about my inability to take statins and what did he do? RX me another statin drug to try.

Sigh. Sometimes I wonder about the medical profession.

I tired one tablet last night. Glad that once again I didn't tolerate it, upset stomach, bowel cramps, fatigue, feeling ill..danged RX is over 300$ He gave me samples but if he thinks I'm paying 348$ a month for a drug that makes me feel like heck, he's got another thing coming. If I'm going to feel miserable, I'd much rather have fun doing it, like partying with friends, too much good food, too much good drink, etc to the tune of 348$

On a brighter note. Broody is on day 13 today, 11 eggs under her.

I'm also fighting mouse wars. Haven't seen mice but I put out bait holders full and the bait is gone the next morning. They are in the coop walls! I shudder to think how many are there. Took away all potential nesting spots in the coop so that is where they went. Sigh.
