The Old Folks Home

We picked up our big box of food from Cracker Barrel today. There was a pretty long line. It would seem quite a few people are taking the stress free way to do Thanksgiving. I was impressed with the amount, and variety of food. Not too shabby. About an hour before we go to eat, all I have to do is heat the oven shove the turkey and one side dish in. 30 minutes later, the rest of the side dishes go in, except the rolls. 15 minutes later, the rolls go in. It all ends up being done at the same time. Carve the turkey breast, put out the cranberry sauce, and butter, then chow down.

Oh, instead of taking all the food to the table, then passing it around, I set it all out on the kitchen counters, buffet style. That way everyone can fill their plates, then go to the table to eat. It's so much easier to clean up that way.

Dh put in a new CPU fan in my computer yesterday. My old one was either starting to go bad, or simply wasn't capable of doing the job, since we upgraded everything. I got 14 years of good service out of it, so I can't complain much.

Dh, and I are the only ones awake. The house is pleasantly quiet right now. It won't last much longer, but we'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Only the two of us, so a turkey breast in the Instant Pot, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans and salad. Got up to watch the parade on TV this morning and bake the pumpkin pie only to discover there's no pumpkin in the house! Will check the freezer once more, but may have to scoot to the store OR make a sweet potato pie instead.
The cul-de-sac is having a Thanksgiving potluck on Saturday with the full-on spread. I'm doing roasted Brussels Sprouts and bringing some wine.

Wishing all my Old Folks friends a cozy and warm Thanksgiving. So much to be grateful for!
