The Old Folks Home

Hey Old Folks, We are dry here about 45.
Sunny & dry here, too, got into the mid-60's. (Weather Service says we might break the high-temp record for Dec. 16 here.) But another wave of tropical moisture is on its way starting tomorrow, likely 3" or more by Tuesday so I was outside cleaning up the chicken yard/coop and pulling weeds (treats for the girls!) furiously since it'll be too wet after today -- and my daughter's family is arriving for the holidays Dec. 21! :love

Grandson turned 3 years old today; they had a pizza party in a nearby park to celebrate down in warm & dry Burbank. Sad to miss it but he'll be running free up here very soon!

Good morning Old Folks. Not raining yet guessers say tomorrow.
May miss us?
Heavy rain on our steel roof woke me this morning! A Pacific cyclone is supposed to "brush" the NoCal coast today/tomorrow with substantial rain and wind gusts from 25-45mph (hope it doesn't knock down tree limbs and cut our power as per usual...)

A second cyclone's edge is coming Tues/Wed. (predicting ~3" rain total from the 2 storms) but it's supposed to be clear for Thursday, when our Burbank family is flying in for Christmas!🤞

Sounds like these 2 storms may move east/inland before reaching you, PennyJo?

I now have about 10 dozen cookies ready to go, IF I can keep the cookie thieves around here, out of them. :rant I was going to bake my Christmas Tree cookies tonight, but I still had icing in the mixer bowl, and stored it in the fridge, to be used again tomorrow. I'll use the icing in the morning, then clean the bowl, and make the cookie dough. I will order another mixer bowl, BUT I could have told DD #2 to bring hers for me to use, the other night when she came over, but I didn't even think of it.

Yes, we've been getting hit pretty good with storms. By the way, the extra high humidity when it storms, affects the consistency of flood icing.

Dd #1 put the Christmas tree up today. We'll let it decompress, and fluff out for a day, or two, then she and the grands will decorate it.

Onward to a thorough house cleaning when I get the cookies all done, and distributed. After the thorough cleaning, it will be time to start doing all the prep work, and ahead-of-time cooking. Yeah, I'll be busy cooking our holiday food, but the day after, I phone it in. I don't cook or clean. I rest.
