The Old Folks Home

I have the same lots better than the old coop three windows open 2 fans.
Two fans in the redone little coop two windows.
Banty has two fans and one window in each room.
Fans make a big difference!

This is my first summer with silkie bantams. I think they hatched around the end of January and are doing ok now but I worry when the temp goes to 90 and above. It's 92° now and my precious little black fuzzy butt is panting some. Even with fresh cool water and lots of shade to relax in. Wish I could bring them back into the sun room with it's own climate control system and keep them cool. I have 25 new chicks coming on the 27th so no place for them in where there is AC. I won't be hatching or buy any after these last two breeds arrive. Better not say that out loud as I do want more of these show type silkies. Fuzzy butt was singing like a full sized hen today.

I need to win the lottery and buy a big farm with some flat ground and build one of those 80' wide x 400' long metal buildings built to withstand tornadoes. Then fully insulate it and and install geothermal AC inside it and divide it up into small aviaries for each bread of chicken I'd like to keep. Each aviary would have a door opening up to a 2 acre covered run that would totally predator proof from lions, tigers, and even elephants. There would be separate meal worm farm for an endless supply of treats and grain fields of all kinds to have home grown feed on demand. Cool deep well water for all to drink including myself. Wheat fields to provide straw for where ever needed.

If you are going to dream it might as well be big. :)
