!

I really have no excuse for not having used mine. I picked it up at a yard sale years ago. I might need to get a new gasket -- just haven't looked at it in so long.

I thought I'd share a photo of part of what I've been doing today, using up eggs. This is an egg custard coconut pie and, needless to say, deviled eggs.
I should have waited to sample the pie

. Sorry for the blurriness.

All this talk of canning!! I looked for canning jars today and could NOT find one box!! SHould have bought them when I saw them.

IM IN!!, my husband and I are cross country truck drivers, and run 49 states with an 83 foot long tractor trailer we call the iron man. We also have a little farm in Georgia where we raise guineas, chickens and muscovy ducks. Our kids are all raised and have families of their own so we would fall along the line of old I think, lol. I am way in on the older forum. Our helpers (Ann and Dave) while we are on the road are in their 40's so they might also qualify.. (smile) .
There are so many people who would like to have what we have but are limited as the are forced (job wise) to live in cities or close to them. We are working on giving people the best of both worlds by helping them develop a backyard system to have fresh eggs they can depend on being healthy without worrying about where they came from.. We are an hour from Atlanta and have the people, the chickens and hatchery needs to help anyone interested in learning how to have backyard chickens.

Welcome!!

I met a woman today at a birthday party my youngest was invited to--she was the grand mother and only 2 years older than me. I don't feel old usually . . . .

I wish I could taste that pie!

No idea. Not enough rain is pretty unheard of for this area. We had a few really hot, dry weeks, and I could see them wilt, but I just watered them and life went back to normal. We just chopped up a couple stalks for the soup we decided to make for dinner, and it is very aromatic. Permeates the place just like a chopped onion does.

Feels like the rain is slowing down a bit, thankfully. It was torrential most of the day, got soaked in the 10 minutes I took to go tend to everyone's food, water and poop.

Hello all! I am sorry that I haven't been on in a while. I have been preoccupied with the pup. Great news, she has turned the corner and is on the road to recovery.

I took her to the vet on Friday because her coughing had gotten much worse sounding and I was afraid she might need breathing treatments. I called about lunch time and the vet heard her coughing over the phone and I could hear the concern in her voice. I took her in and the plan was to do blood work, x-rays, and IV drugs for the lungs. That was going to push me well above $1000 on the total vet bills on the pound puppy. Once there, the vet listened to her lungs and was very surprised that they didn't sound too bad. Then doc palpated her throat and set her off on a coughing spasm. The doc looked at me and broke into a hugh grin and said, "It's tracheal!" I had been taking her in the steamy shower and thumping her chest to clear the pneumonia. I did it every three hours for two days and one night. The poor thing must have made her throat raw coughing up all that congestion.

Doc gave me some pills and sent us home to recoup. The bill for that visit was $16 and a dozen eggs! Paisley still tires easily, but is eating well and drinking water enough to avoid the dehydration we were treating her for. She is perky on and off and loves to jump on everyone's chest and lick their faces. Now back to that house training that I was struggling with before she got sick.

BTW - I have one SPOILED DOG now......

Hi!

I just started reading this thread! It looks great!

And by the way, SuperChemicalGirl, is that Bass Harbor Head Light on your avatar? Or is it Portland Head?
Okay, it probably isn't either one, but I just thought I'd guess anyways!
