What is a Basque?

It is a Land Race Breed from Spain. In the 1980s a College Professor collected samples from Farms in Spain to preserve their Breeds. The Marraduna was one of them. They eventually made it to Canada and Green Fire Farms imported them into the US. Mine came from Skyline Farms.

They are a great Dual Purpose Breed.

They are very pretty. They are a distinct breed with an SOP from Spain. They are shown in competitions too. They are very smart and friendly.

Several BYCrs here in Northern CA have Icelandics. The Thread Starter for the big Icelandic thread lives up the hill from me. They seem to do well in heat and cold. I would get them for white egg layers.

Welcome. I always liked older peeps, too, figured it meant I had an old soul. lol Now I am an older peep, compared to young peeps.
