The Old Folks Home

Ron, that cake looks so good I'm trying to figure out how to make is low carb. THe lemon curd is low carb already. Just need to substitute cake ingredients. Remove the flour and use nuts or soy flour. --need to think on it. Cream cheese I can eat and use splenda and stevia for sweetening. Just the cake has me stumped. Love lemon curd!!!!! I'd be happy just eating that like a pudding!!

Welcome. I always liked older peeps, too, figured it meant I had an old soul. lol Now I am an older peep, compared to young peeps.

I DO NOT WANT SNOW SLEET OR COLD RAIN!!!!!! NO NO NO !!!

I'm not sure it's the age thing, although I don't like most people my age. But with the sheer number of people I dislike from all age groups, I guess I'd say that I like people with old souls, no matter how old their body is.

I get excited the first few storms of the season. Comes from growing up in the Mid Atlantic, where storms were a rarity and fun (and everything shut down). After a few of them here I stop staring outside at the flakes falling and wake up to the reality of 6 more months of this, having to clean the snow away and go to work no matter what, and it's COLD.

Whoever sent me to the boot place online, thank you. I got boots that will hopefully keep my tootsies warm this season. They're a bit tight on my thick legs, but they should stretch a bit.

It was snowing here today. It didn't stick. Snow predicted for Wednesday and Saturday, too.

And so it begins.

Hope everyone had a fabulous Monday.

DiDi - you hear yet?
Today is 20 degrees above normal. Thursday it will be 15 degrees below normal. It is Currently 78 Degrees here in Davis California.

Winter is coming.

Do be careful that those boots are not too tight. It will decrease circulation in your feet and make them colder. I'm sure you know the whole bit about keeping the core warm, too? ANd wearing a hat? A wool hat? You've lived in Maine a while, I"m sure you k now all this!!! lol

We wear hats in the house these days. The heat is not on here yet. Next weekend after the chimney is cleaned. It's an annual ritual for me to hold the extension ladder well braced at the base while DH climbs to the peak of the roof, scootches to the chimney and ties himself to the chimney. Then let cleaning commence. I run to the basement to shovel out the scrapings and get a blackened face for my trouble. Makes for a clean chimney and no chimney fires though!

I have always felt old--not as in body, as in soul. ANd the older I get, the older I feel. Living to around a hundred runs in the family. Not sure I want to do that. Fifty more years--??? Guess I really am old--more years just means acceptance : changing what I can, and actually knowing what can be changed, and what cannot be changed.

Like debating with DH about which presidential candidate to vote for. THis is the first time we are not thinking of the same candidate. He is free to choose, and I am free to persuade him!! LOL Which ever candidate wins, this campaining will finally be OVER!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I heard that it is supposed to snow here on Friday, my guess is, you will get more than us...ummm, maybe about the same, you are up in the foothills, and we are just down from a very large canyon. We always get more snow than just downtown.

Thinking on putting a heat lamp in for the big girls for that night. In the morning, I can see a few that won't want to come out of that coop. We already had a bit of snow about a week and a half ago. It was so funny to see how the girls acted. There were two, that flew over, the snow, to the patio. Then, later, they got better. I wonder how much we will get. Hope it goes away quick.
I am working of fodder. Can't remember if I posted that here. Just in time it seems..I should have some green for them by this weekend. If it snows a lot, they won't be out of the run, so, they will get this when it is all grown up. This is day three, it grows like a weed. My first time...loving the idea of them getting green in the winter, and it is cheaper than spinach. :) This is wheat fodder.

It is starting to swirl around on the bottom, getting a good mass of roots under there.
No dirt! Just put the seeds in after soaking them, keep them moist, and you have sprouts
before you know it. I expect green from the wheat by tomorrow. These have grown since
I took the picture this morning! I have 5 bins. This one three days out, two more one day
out, and two more that I just put out today. Green will come, I hope! :D

There you go, Stump!

Ok so now for Wisher. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I picture you with shortish brown hair, probably around 5'5". I think you are thin (from running around with your boys) and that you laugh a lot. I picture you with either a smile or a smirk on your face most of the time. I see you wearing the kind of shirts you described for me but sleeveless instead of long sleeved. I definitely think you wear gardening gloves.

This made me laugh so hard! I love it!! Brown hair is right, I like to smile and laugh, and I do wear gardening gloves on occasion, but the rest is WAY off! Did anyone else want to guess (NOT you, Stumpy that wouldn't be fair!)

I have got to do some of this! I have some feed wheat, do you think it will work? If not, where do I get some "fodder?" We don't use that term, although I have heard it before, so I am not familiar with it's meaning.
