The Olive-Egger thread!

Does anyone have pics of an adult Welsummer x Cream Crested Legbar cross Olive Egger? And/or pics of their eggs? I just got one of these as a day old chick from Meyer Hatchery, and I'd love to see some examples of how they turn out, and how consistent the cross is in appearance and egg color. Thanks!

Can someone on here share a few pics of their olive egger roosters. Preferably black copper maran mixed with ameraucana. Thanks.

I have an olive egger cockerel, hatched 5/7/16. Ameraucana X Black Copper Marans. I was really hoping for a pullet (But I think I knew), but I heard a crow from the pullet pen yesterday.

I don't have any pictures yet (Well, from when he had down in the brooder.) but he is black with a copper neck and copper on the upper breast and has a pea comb. He is very muscular and sturdy but I won't be keeping him. If I take some pictures I'll post them in the next few days,

Again, no pictures of her (I really should take some pictures and post), but I have an oliver egger hen hatched 2/14/15. Father cream legbar X welsummer). She looks exactly like a welsumer, could pass for one but her body is more a greyish brown as opposed to the brown of the welsumer mother. She lays beautiful extra large olive eggs, often speckled. Her mother laid speckled dark eggs.
Unfortunately in the last few weeks I lost her mother in a fox attack when we were having a fence gate problem.

Ok thanks. My grandmother wants one of my roosters. She wants one that takes after the copper maran but I haven't raised any to maturity yet so I don't know who they will take after. I think the maran because they have no beard or muffs.. :)

Dekel, thanks for this description! She sounds great! If I get eggs like that, especially speckled, I will be really happy.

One thing I was wondering is how strong the Cream Legbar crest genes are--it sounds like your hen didn't really get the crest. I'd probably prefer no crest (especially since with the crosses, it seems like it comes out sometimes as a thin mohawk rather than a full crest).

I'm so sorry you lost your welsummer hen.

We recently lost two in what we think was a coon attack, and I'm still really mad and sad about it. I hope you were able to get the gate fixed and that the fox finds someplace else to go.

Oh I love those boys! They are real lookers. I just love roosters. I wish I had more property. If I did I would rescue them and just let them roam lol. They are just so gorgeous.. :)
