The Olive-Egger thread!

Woo Hoo. I am one happy lady. My hatching eggs from Wynette arrived today and I can't wait to set them. I know, I will wait 24 hours for them to settle , but I am so excited about getting these in the incubator.

I have 7 Olive Eggers and 7 Black Copper Marens. These eggs were so well packed and no damage. My new 1588 Genesis is up and running. This is going to be my first time hatching so wish me luck everyone and cross your fingers fore me that all goes well. If anyone has any tips for me feel free to add them.

Thanks for the welcome. I actually have been lurking for a long time but had to register to bid on those hatching eggs. Good thing I found this site as I knew absolutely nothing until I started reading here. Still need to learn lots and lots.

Good point. I'm actually always curious as to why Wheaten Ameraucana girls are so different from other Wheatens.

While we're on the topic- how about a blue copper marans roo over a wheaten ameraucana? I have 2 clean faced girls that lay nice blue eggs- gotta use them for something! I couldn't figure out what is blue copper on the kipp calculator.

Black Copper with a blue gene. I've got a clean faced blue Ameraucana I'd love to use for Olive Eggers, as she has an amazing egg color, but she put a brake on laying weeks ago.

You enter the rooster as black copper, and then before you hit calculate, change the Bl gene to Blue.

It looks like you would get more or less blue and black copper-ish birds in the first generation, probably with some mossiness bleeding through. Breeding siblings of these two would give you quite an assortment!

Anyone have a mossy Black Copper roo that came from a DARK egg? I'll have some receptive Wheaten Ameraucana Pullets from Jean Ribbeck laying this spring. Their egg color is a very nice blue.

Congrats Happy Chooks!!!

Now you have to wait until the little one pokes his/her head out from underneath momma to take some pictures!
