Hi,
If I will cross marans hen with the "araucana"[or maybe ameraucana..] rooster from the green egg line, the chicks will lay olive eggs? Or not?

If you don't know what your rooster is, he is an EE. He might pass on the blue egg gene.. Try some test matings and if the resulting chicks have pea combs that you should have olive eggers!

Speckledhen- I have a wheaten ameraucana x salmon faverolle that looks just like that! Her name is Supercheeks.

This is araucana rooster, but some europe lines are different that u.s.

he has no tail, pea comb, and beard - like both of his parents, parents are show type and was showed in belgium and czech republic. So I hope for olive eggers ^^

mmmh, except for the fact that she and Salmon Faverolles share lineage with the Quechua.

Oh, really? Didn't know that. Then, there is a sort of connection there, though not directly. She came from halo, who has her Wheaten Marans rooster in with EE hens and maybe a few Ameraucanas as well, not sure.

I have some OEs that are almost 5 months old. I crossed my Welsummer/EE roo with my EEs. I am really excited to see what kind of eggs I will have. At what average age did everyones hens start laying? My roo has been crowing for some times and I have seen him kind of try to mount one of his favorite girls who is the same age. Anyone near me...East TN. I have 2 beautiful roos needing homes!!
Will send some pics later.

here is a few of my young olive eggers.
this will be my roo.he is out of a blue wheaten ameraucana and a mossy black copper marans.

Here are some of my OEs. I noticed that my 5 mo. roo was mounting the hens! He is going to be just like his dad. That is him running around the outside of the pen...frustrated. He is a beautiful Welsummer/EE and has yielded beautiful babies.

This is Tonka..the daddy..he would not stay still!

This is a pair of 5 mo. old from my first hatching of my OE eggs.

Some of my other OEs...I love the patterns and colorations. When they where small they where all barred.

One of my younger OEs..think this is going to be a pullet

I want to breed my F1 roo to my EEs to see if I get a more intense olive color. Has anyone tried this and what where the results?

I am so glad you mentioned that Medicine Man...I have 2 Faverolles and always wondered if there was a connection because they had a lot of similiar traits.
