The Olive-Egger thread!

Lucscious looking eggs!

About your limping girl, can you isolate her so that she can have her own food and rest. She maynot be lhaling well if she is picked on, josled and lacking food due to competition. Perhaps you ca put her in a dog crate and nurse her for a few weeks.

I had a hen live in my downstairs bathroom for 2 weeks, and with some care, she improved and went back out to the hen house.

GL

x2 You need to isolate her.

I have a couple of young pullets that have similar markings. I love your birds.

I need to get a couple of pics up her of my OEs. I have a hen that is crossed with Wellie who is my best OE. Now muffs or anything but nice eggs. I also have a roo from my blue AM and a FBCM hen, Little Jovi, that I wish I could get a decent pic of to post. He's huge and had feathered shanks. I love my blue birds, so he's one of my favorites and His dad was my favorite roo at the time, but was stolen from the coop, so although the mix wasn't on purpose I'm so glad I have something from him.

Just glad I found this thread again. I always forget about my OEs even though I am breeding for some.

Thanks. would love to see yours. Im a fan of blue birds too. I got the biggest blue birds I could find in my jgs.
I think I will go with the java rooster for now as he is handy and im dieing to see what colors i will get from the crosses. once I get some pullets from that crossand maybe a cockerel ill get some marans and cross and keep some from that cross.

Yes, we had isolated her for over a month, making her a pen that was next to her group of "sisters", so they could continue to see her. This week (Wednesday) we put her back in the run with the others, but a couple are being really mean to her. I don't know what else to do for her. I'm afraid she will never walk right again. She kinda hops.

I worry that she will always be picked on.

Soaring Chicks- that's what breeding projects are all about I totally understand what you mean by breeding for what you like because I'm doing exactly that for myself as well! That's why I'm not breeding solid colors into my olive egger projects. One thing I'm hoping for is to add some color with my half EE X Wheaten Ameraucana pullet that looks buff colored with light blue streaks in her feathers. I'm going to breed her in the pen with my black copper maran rooster and along with my first generation blue featherd olive eggers. I'm just hoping I get some pretty olive eggs. I haven't seen any olive ones from this particular cross yet I'm hoping it will work well. But to get an even different color I may put one of my wheaten ameraucana hens in with my black copper rooster. My Wheatens carry a lil more unusually darker blue egg gene than most EE's I've seen.

my F1 cross was a pea green egg color
this is the F2 eggs (of the one laying) and sorry not the best was going to get more pictures and dropped the eggs.

this is without a flash. with the flash and the red book they look more brown in pictures.

When I get more I will take a lot better picture.

The blue color eggs are my EE's eggs.
Yeah it is but every now and then you need a fresh eye to get the full picture.

Beautiful eggs and birds, everyone!

Soaring chicks: Where did your EE come from? Mine lays such a pale egg. I'm hoping to find some true Ameraucana hatching eggs in this area next spring.

A friend of mine got some at tractor supply and did not need all of them so I took 4 and kept the one that laid blue eggs.
I have gotten two out of two from McMurry before a few yrs ago. I had asked for blue egg layers.

Wolftracks- nice boys you have there. Yep looks mad alright.

I am aiming towards OEs in the near future, but another evil

thought has crossed my oh so warped mind....now that we can breed for OEs what are the other possibilities for color? Lavendar, coral, mauve???? Just thinking.........
