The Olive-Egger thread!

I know I've asksd this before but here it goes again. I have an EE roo over a black star, buff orpington, Jersey giant & New Hampshire red. Will those combos make an f1 olive egger, i just more green egged EE?

You will get green.... sorry. You need a dark egg layer like a Marans to get olive eggs.

I am getting interested in the olive egger and was wondering if anyone in Oregon/Washington/Idaho had any available?

Washington state here, far Northwest peninsula. I do from time to time. I also offer hatching eggs as well, in case you ever get an incubator or broody hen.

At the moment I don't have chicks or adults available but I likely will in a few months.

Hi Illia!

Do you ship hatching eggs? I would to get some!

I don't normally do crosses but had some Blue Copper & Blue Marans pullets I hatched last season from Pinkchicks that lay a really nice round dark egg so I put them in with my Black & Blue Ameraucanas that lay a really nice blue egg. All the eggs in that pen are instantly recognizable. Blue being Ameraucanas & dark brown being f1 Olive eggers. I had a really good hatch with those crossed eggs, better than I get on the straight Marans......Hmmmmmm. Now I can't wait to see the eggs. I decided to do this after seeing the chart someone on this thread so kindly posted showing what we would expect with that cross. I loved the color of the f1 eggs but may try a few f2 also.

I took some chick pics yesterday; this one is a Barred OE cockerel. (Black Ameraucana x Cuckoo Marans) His sisters are all black so far, while he has pretty barring coming in nicely...

One of the OE pullets (along with a Lavender Orp):

I need some help Please :)

I have Blue Ameraucana Hens under Olive Egger Roos that are Marans x Ameraucana. They both(roos) have muffs and a beard, one has a pea comb mix and the other a beautiful straight comb. I am hoping their chicks will produce some great olive eggs. What do you think?
