I got my start from a local fellow that has had them 5 years, the birds need lots of work as most Marans do. For the purpose of this thread they will work fine,,,,lol. I have 44 eggs incubating right now from a BCM roo over my Wheaton/BlueWheaten Ameraucanas

My first test hatch of olive eggers. FBCM x cream legbar cross. Can't wait to see what they will look like. They are incubating away with some barred NNs, some LF lavender EEs and some banty EEs.

I could make that cross of CCL and Marans... had not thought about using BCM or blue even. Might just have to toss EVERYONE that lays dark eggs in there and see what I get

I forgot who asked (and it was a few pages back), but this is an Isbar. They are terrific chickens!



Theoretically they should have two copies of a colored egg gene, so all of your Isbar x Marans chicks will be Olive Eggers.

It depends on what the Blue Breed was. If Cream Legbars or Isbars then the blue gene will be passed on. If they were EE, AM or Aarucana then look closely at the comb. If it is a Combination comb of Pea and Straight then the Blue gene is likely there.

The Blue egg laying gene Is closely associated with the pea comb in the breeds listed above.

Ive been using a roo with a combination comb and will see what chicks I get. It will be hard to tell due to having way too many roosters. Barred rocks mainly and theu are not gentle either.

I believe mine were from an Amerucana hen, and a Barnevelder roo. So without pea comb they are less likely to pass on the gene. What would a combination comb look like?

It has a straight part in the center and then little bumps on the sides.
